A B | 13 comments Who in this group enjoys a story of suspense about weapons of mass destruction or anything nuclear?

Actually, my gold standard on this is the movie 'DOCTOR STRANGELOVE'. Hard to beat the mix of humor, sarcasm and lunacy in it.

Samuel | 648 comments Who doesn't? :) it's like an obligation for spy fiction writers to do at least one book featuring nuclear weapons in this day and age.

And Dr Strangelove is outstanding. Kubricks finest work. And a good comedy at that.

A B | 13 comments Thanks Michel and Samuel.

I can not not say I have seen that film. I am just writing one my self based on a nuclear bomb and Uranium, which I can not talk too much about yet because there is still plenty of work on it to be done. I was concerned a little that the first half of my book is going to be more suspense more than it is thrilling, only that the action does in kick in after half way into the book. I just wanted to know peoples opinions on this.

Thank you.

My answer --unfortunately--is no. I'd rather be blown up by a nuke than read any more books about them. Just my personal preference lately. I'm burnt out on such thriller movies and books; burnt out by this problem which will never go away. They are our monument to human stupidity, backwardness, and human evil.

When morons rave about how wonderful technology is lately, they always fail to take the downside into account. There's no point gushing over your mp3 music library if we're all gonna die from radiation.

Roger Ellis (rrellis) | 7 comments Cheer up! There are all kinds of creative ways you could die from radiation... Russians, terrorists, etc. In AK-239 (239 being a huge clue) uranium, thorium and plutonium are all explored on Christmas Day! Merry Christmas!

Well, instead of concentrating on nuclear weapons themselves or their delivery vectors, a novel exploring their use/misuse at high levels of authority, if well done, will always be interesting and pertinent, in my opinion. If you can inject humor on top (not easy with such a subject), then the better.
