Gabriel Garcia Marquez (1927-2014) , the king of Latin American Literature, passed away recently and left a massive body of work. One Hundred Years of Solitude won the Nobel Prize and became his most commercially successful book, but many of his other novels were very successful, including Chronicle of a Death Foretold and Love in the Time of Cholera. Try out a book this month by Garcia Marquez and tell us what you think. If you have time, One Hundred Years of Solitude is a great story, but lengthy. Some of his other works are shorter but just as good. You'll be rewarded by seeing a talented writer at his best. Let us know what you think!

David | 2 comments I do struggle with fiction but I have read 100 Years of Solitude a few times and loved it. It’s probably been 15 years since I last read it and several images are still very clear in my mind. Chronicle of a Death Foretold is also very good (and a very quick read).

Ok David, that counts! We won't make you read 100 Years of Solitude again!I've loved his books also and would like to read 100 Years of Solitude again but it's the kind of book you have to take your time with - it can't be rushed!
