message 9: by Mellissa (new)

Mellissa | 4 comments I figured I'd add my intro to the pile.

My name is Nicole Thompson-Andrews. My pen name is Mellissa Green.
I'm working on Kaos Reigns a Whydunit Serial Book 1 in The Yemorans series.

Synopsis below.
Novel Pitch
A gender-shifting child terrorist wants Intergalactic domination.

Longer synopsis

Kaos Reigns a Whydunit Serial
The Yemorans Book 1
Trigger warning:
This multi-perspective book deals with child and animal abuse.
On the run again.
It all started when Cayder SunHouse went to visit his parents in their new home.
On his way, he is attacked by the dying infected, a group of dying infected, who live in the City of the Dying Infected. During the attack, Cayder loses consciousness, and wakes to find it’s three months later, ad his rescuer is Nyna WindFlame, the new chief of the next village.
Cayder expects to recover and pick up where he left off, unaware of Nyna’s dark plans for him.
By the time he’s aware of her plans, it’s too late, and it’s the day before his forced marriage to her.
The year after the marriage, Cayder is asked to help in abducting Nyna’s Yemoran friend, Shayla LittleStar’s cocooned infants during Schayla’s cocooning ceremony.
However, during the memory replacing, someone’s memory escape completing replacement, and people talk.
Now Nyna, Cayder, and there newly acquired infant, Tybron, are fugitives.
Years later when Tybron is ten, he flees one of the communities he’s called home, when his mother is murder, and he is accused by his father who is the new chief.
He stumbles onto the Fox family’s reservation. Unable to speak, he is taken in. It is there, he is given a diary and learns what he’s been missing, locked up in underground apartments and hidden huts, such as the rite of passage called an age walk.
One Spring later, upon his return, he learns of a boy called Prophet LittleStar, a five-year-old gender-shifting Yemoran, has been launching attacks on villages with low populations of shape shifters, and there village is one. Now they’re on an Intergalactic run, ending up on Yemora, unaware that Prophet has orchestrated that move.
Days after the move, Tybron is sent on a trade run in an unfamiliar part of his new village, where he is soon captured by Prophet, and learns they are siblings. Now Tybron is asked to help his younger brother overthrow the galaxy or die trying not too.

More about me
I'm blind and designed my website which I'm still working on as I've made some changes.
The preorder for Kaos Reigns is onSmashwords set to go out on November 7th of this year. I also plan to have a version on Createspace, but I can't do a preorder, so only part of that form is filled out.
Looking into having a narrator from the Library for the Blind do the audio version, and somehow I want to get it into braille.

Sunshine (sunnyetalhotmailcom) | 2 comments Catherine--thanks for inviting me to join the group. I have been exchanging beta reader services for my very first novel with three other authors I found through Goodreads. So I don't know yet if I need any paid services. Planning to self-publish. But it's good to know what's out there. I have taught writing and proofread law books, among other things, so can do beta reading or proofreading for others, too.

message 14: by Dakota (new)

Dakota Rayne | 1 comments Hello everyone. I'm Dakota. Working on a medieval fantasy and now just got this weird idea for a paranormal fantasy novel. Decided to let the other one sit just a bit and focus on honing my skills in general as I rewrite the medieval fantasy, which is part of a trilogy. The first book will be called "What Glows will Bleed".

The paranormal novel "The Cost of Living" is a supernatural story that explores teen-relevant issues like bullying, LGBTQ, and teen suicides and the pressure of social norms in our society.

message 25: by Marta (new)

Marta Adint-Weeks (httpwwwmartacweekscom) Hi, I am Marta C Weeks, author, poet, and blogger.
The Sylph's Tale
Last October I published The Sylph's Tale, the first book of my Immortals-series. I would say its adult fiction, some say fantasy/paranormal. I am at present editing book two. Currently editing Virigns, book two.

The Sylph's Tale logline: I shouldn't have returned to Earth after, as a salamander, I slid into a river between a man and a virgin. My task was to witness Earth’s evolution when a girl running from rape came appeared and a Celestial voice demanded, “Take your Eve.” After we made love she demanded, “Take me back to my people.” “Use wings.” I was left with nothing, dammed to be eternal without a soul.

Excerpts of comments by readers on Amazon:

· intriguing and innovative tale. Marta has talent and a unique story.
· is amazing. You will never forget it. A deep, meaningful tale,
· found myself really caught up in the heroine's life
· had just enough paranormal and great character... I like the book.
· nice story with an interesting plot.
· The imagery is remarkable and each paragraph pulls me forward
· Good book. Enjoyable and entertaining book to read.
· A very short but interesting story...has a very interesting premise.

Thank you and very best regards!

message 30: by Marta (new)

Marta Adint-Weeks (httpwwwmartacweekscom) After retiring, sometimes having worked a job and a half, while raising a family, I wanted to get lost in writing. Could see myself creating or finishing articles and stories I had started here and there, but it was hard to adjust to set a writing and publishing schedule. Boundaries diminished or changed as needs from family and home increased. It became "as soon as" I get this done, or this passes. Then came vacations and travel we had dreamed of doing. Finally, I rebelled against routines but noticed, from others in writer's groups, classes, and success gurus - in particular males - that they kept a "dead-set-schedules" for writing. While women - not from lack of discipline but because we rarely have "wives" to take care of demands and issues - and give in to tribe and community more often. We also are multi-taskers. One writer always says, "from 6 to 9 pm, after dinner, even if we have company, I write, every-single-day. No matter what, I lock my home-office door, and my everyone knows they cannot disturb me," his wife sitting next to him nodded. Wow

Emmanuel Scholes | 3 comments Quick Question for Fellow Authors!

Hey everyone! I’m curious, what’s the biggest challenge you’re currently facing when it comes to getting your books into more readers' hands?

Is it:
A) Getting reviews?
B) Marketing & promotion?
C) Growing on Amazon?
D) Social media visibility?
E) Something else?

I’m always trying to learn more about what indie authors struggle with (I help some authors with marketing) and thought this could also help others here share ideas too!

Feel free to drop a comment or, if you prefer something more personal, you can reach me directly at emmanuelscholes5@gmail.com.
Happy to chat, share ideas, or just encourage!

Looking forward to hearing from you all!
