I think, with a small stretch, I can check off Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard Victoria Aveyard under this one.

Technically this is before a war gets going, but this book really plants the seeds for the rest of the series. Also, there is an underground group that tries to stir change in the Monarchy, so that definitely fits.

While not my favourite book, I can see why my teens are checking it out a lot. It has that something that The Hunger Games and Divergent had. It's actually a bit like The Hunger Games meets XMen, but in this world the mutants (The Silvers) have the hierarchy. The narrator was decent as well.

Wolf Hollow is set during World War II and, while at first this seems like a backdrop, it soon becomes a major plot point.

While I wasn't over the moon about the book itself, it was a gripping read that utilized its young, trusting narrator well.

Kari | 32 comments Ok... going back and checking off my PopSugar Challenge books because (of course) I didn't do this as I read.

Code Name Verity is set during World War II. I LOVED this book. I really didn't think I was going to, but I did.

Code Name Verity (Code Name Verity, #1) by Elizabeth Wein

I can see that lol, but better late than never! And I like looking back at other's "read" piles from 2017. See what I missed, etc.
