2017 is here! Everyone here on Goodreads is busy setting reading goals for the new year, and I thought it would be a great idea to have a book challenge here in this group too! Comment down below how many of the Top 100 Children's Books you want to read this year, and if there are any books on the list that you particularly want to get to this year. I am excited to see how many of us meet our goals :)

After seeing that I have read about half of the books from the Top 100 list, I am challenging myself to read 15 more this year. I am especially excited to read A Wrinkle in Time (lots of people have told me that they love this book) and The Diary of a Young Girl (Anne Frank).

Jason (jase3gt) | 70 comments This is a good idea. Fifteen sounds like a good number. I think we'll shoot for at least 15 too. Hopefully, we'll be able to stick with it. We have a couple of books we started that we haven't finished yet.

I'm not going to name a number that I'm going to read instead I'm going to list some books I would like to read this year. In no particular order, I would like to read:- Inside Out and Back Again, A Little Princess, Matilda and Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. There are other books that I want to read too but living in New Zealand my local libraries don't have all of the books in the Top 100 list. I will have to find out if other libraries throughout NZ have them or look at reading them on my Kindle. I also want to read Anne of Green Gables but I'm not sure when to start the series as I think I will want to continue it.

I like the books on your list, Julie! I hadn't really noticed Inside Out and Back Again. That looks good. Let me know if you think I should add it to my list. I'm trying to get to Echo sometime soon. I've heard good things :)
Good luck on finding all the books you want to read!

I had noticed it and then Jason's recent comments about it, had confirmed that it sounded like a book I wanted to read soon. I'll let you know what I think of it when I'm reading it.

Happy December! How are you all doing with your goals that we created soooo long ago? :P

My goal was to read 15 books from the Top 100 List for this year, and I have read 9 so far. Not what I hoped for at this time of the year, but oh well! :)

Jason (jase3gt) | 70 comments You're doing better than us. We've read about 5 from the list and started a few others. We haven't really been reading too much from the list lately. We've been reading other things.

Terris | 179 comments I didn't actually have a goal, but I read 10 this year!
Echo, Inside Out & Back Again, See You at Harry's, The Mysterious Benedict Society, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, The Crossover, The Mighty Miss Malone, The Red Umbrella, Brown Girl Dreaming, and Stella by Starlight! And, of course, there are still more that I want to read!! :)

Well I didn't pick a number that I wanted to read but instead I chose four books I wanted to read. I've read Inside Out and Back Again, Matilda and Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. I haven't gotten round to reading A Little Princess yet and it won't happen this year as I'm reading other books at the moment. I did read some other books from the list though.

In total I've read 6 books from the list so far this year. I'm currently still reading Wonder but I will have that finished before the end of the year.
