As no one has discussed this yet I thought I’d chime in!
The book itself reads like really cheesy fan fic, I love that there’s a story continuation but it doesn’t feel on par with the rest of the published works.
That being said it is much more spectacular as a play, the visual play on stage is amazing but I still felt that story line was sub par for official Potter canon.

Oh definitely on the queer bating- it’s even more in your face in the play and something I didn’t like either.
I would definitely recommend seeing the play if you get the chance though because it is beautifully done on stage!

Yeah, I’d love to see it live, but I agree with you folks. My other HP books stay on the shelf. I’ve no qualms about donating this one to a thrift shop.
