Oh, The Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss ... anytime I feel a little "stuck" on life's journey I re-read this.

I'm on the board at my local library, and at a local theatre company.

I used to help out with study hall for a school that focused on at-risk middle-school students, but now that I work full time that isn't possible.

message 12: by ilikeboox (new)

ilikeboox | 242 comments Yes, I crochet blankets and scarves. I used to make greeting cards for the soldiers overseas.

I belong to the ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens). So far I haven't been given any jobs to do but we are trying to get a theater group going for handicapped individuals. That should be interesting.

I also have done some volunteer work for the local Humane Society but haven't done it for a while.

I saw Van Cliburn perform the Tschiakovsky piano concerto. I was 15 (I think).

Probably not what you were referring to, though ...
I think my first "rock" music concert was Herman's Hermits (I was a teenager in the '60s)

Koren (koren56) | 768 comments Leah wrote: "March 7, Tuesday: What was the first music concert you ever attended?"

Kenny Rogers with Crystal Gale. She was very pregnant at the time. That baby must be at least 40 years old by now.

Paige P (paigepradko) | 74 comments Leah wrote: "March 7, Tuesday: What was the first music concert you ever attended?"

I remember that I was in 5th grade and my parents took me to a Neil Diamond concert for my birthday. He was really something in the early seventies.

Friday, March 10 - Somehow we missed International Women's Day on March 8th. What woman(women) do you admire?

message 26: by Paige (new)

Paige P (paigepradko) | 74 comments I admire hard working, dedicated women. Whether they are raising children, authors, politicians, doctors, etc., the ability to persevere is admirable. In my field of psychology, I especially admire the research and writings of Brené Brown.

I admire women who go where no woman has gone before and break glass ceilings.

I'll usually go to a book I know I love, such as Harry Potter. Cleanse my palette and that usually gets me back into gear.

March 20, Monday: Why do we think of others the most when they’re gone?

Leah wrote: "March 20, Monday: Why do we think of others the most when they’re gone?"

I think it is partly to do with our way of grieving. So many little things will remind me of my mother, or my father. For example, when I made dinner on Sunday I thought of my dad because it was a dish he frequently made for us when we were children. I dressed for work this morning, and put on three bracelets ... just as my mother always did. (In fact, two of the bracelets were hers.)

I worked on St. Patrick's day, but would like to share that on St. Patricks Day 42 years ago I became a mom for the very first time.

I had a mentor for several years, until he took another job and moved to California. I recently heard from him ... just to say hello. I learned much about the business of health care administration from him, as well as ways to deal with and negotiate with some difficult personalities.
