Suni, I've started it. Finished first chapter. Wow, these demontors never fail to give me chills! The concept of dementor is really very creative one!!
There was a blog post here once -" (a number I forgot) books that inspired JKR to write HP"
Of course the list had Narnia and LOTR books, but it also had, to my great surprise, The Catcher in the Rye! I asked how come that moron Holden inspired Queen? Someone answered that Catcher's influence could be directly seen in 5th, 6tg books, as in the form of Harry's angst and frustration! Now I see what he/she meant.

Therefore, I can't get your references wrt that, sry!

Wrt Goblet of fire...
The ending was so intense and heart breaking right?
Suni, I will resume from tomorrow. Will properly post my status tomorrow. Thanks for pausing for me.

I will start tonight. I've read only the first chapter I guess :P
So perfect :)
Sundara wrote: "I did buy the book but never read The Catcher in the Rye. Actually was watching this movie "Sanam Teri kasam" where the book was recommended to the hero who has just gotten out of jail. So I stayed..."
Ha ha...guess the recommender was some smart fella :P
About the book- it's one of the very important book in American lit. Influential too. Not a book to be missed.

Dudley deserves it though. :P"
Dursleys, not Dudley. If Diddy were born somewhere else, he wouldn't be the same. It's Dursleys who made him what he was.

Yeah, Cedric died, and Volde...oops..sorry...You-Know-Who came back. Ministry refused to accept it. The graveyard part was really intense.

I've just completed 2nd chap. It has 38 chaps. What about 1 chap per day? Or slower??

Yup I knew it was famous among classics. I will read it in the future, but not right now.
I guess it's due to the fact of my exams. Whatever little time I'm cramming up for reading,I wanna read something I know I'll enjoy and that's why I am going into either fantasy/YA/books I've already read and enjoyed. Plus this whole booktube thing I've started has gotten me kinda falling hard for YA right now<3
Will upgrade my reading choices when I am hassle free and in the right mind-set.

And yeah,Cedric Diggory and the amazing yet underplayed friendship he had with Harry..wow. So touchy.
We do get to see Cho in this part though,CD's gf.

A steady pace is better with this book. It's quite chunky compared to the others in the series!

1 chapter/day only because I don't wanna ignore my other books. HP series has the power to grab my full attention, and make other books eat dust. Nah, that ain't gonna happen. Justice for all :)

Read whenever you are free, but read before you turn 25. Otherwise your reaction may be: "Oh these stupid whiny teenage boy! Had I known earlier, I wouldn't have wasted my time on it. In fact, would have read something "mature":P"
PS: When are your exams?

This book is so far is okay. Usually Harry-at-Privet-Drive parts are interesting. This one is not that great.
And these bunch of new-wizards...ugh!!
And these bunch of new-wizards...ugh!!
What did you do first: HP movies or books?

My entire 11th grade HP was my guiding lamp:P
Back to back I marathoned the entire series.

Although I don't think I will regret my time reading anything less mature:P
Disappointed maybe,but no regrets!
Exams in May. 3rd,5th,7th,9th-four papers!
P.S-I read three tin-tin comics.:P
There goes my maturity level;)

That's what I love about HP the most. The wide array of characters and how each of them have something to contribute to the story. <3

I can't give a straight answer so here comes..
2nd std. Big fan of CARTOONS-Tiny tv(Make way for noddy,Bob the builder,Pingu,Oswald etc). They already stopped telecasting this in Cartoon network so I had to rely on Pogo, the new channel. Then just few months later when I switched on the tv to watch tiny tv cartoons this Pogo started telecasting HP movies. I HATED HP (Big regret, believe me-knowing I. Could have enjoyed all this so many years earlier if only I had given it a chance). Still I used to watch snippets because the Quidditch match scenes amazed the 2nd std me.
Only after 10th board exams got myself a library card and started reading HP as my friend used to go on and on about HP and everytime when had a chat and about to hang-up she'll quiz me-
"What's happening Parsel tongue?"
"What's Hermione's cat's name?"
Just to get in the know of what she was blabbering about I picked up HP on a whim and here I am re-reading it with you :P
So even though I've seen the first two movies (at that time only two was shown in Pogo) I couldn't comprehend the story/world. But when I started the books years later I was still able to picture few characters' faces in my head.
I'd say movies first but technically books!

How far?
Four chaps over!"
Completed 6th chaps! On 7th. Now it's picking speed :)

Wow, great!!
but you didn't inquire about me! Bad gal :/
Anyway, I'm still gonna tell. So my first encounter with HP was in, I guess, 3rd grade, at neighbour's home. I only remember those dark, spiral-y stairs.
And then..there was no HP/Rowling/Books in my life for nearly 10 yrs. Came back to HP movies during my first year of engg (ppl forced me.) Binge-watch all 8 movies in a month (That's my modified-definition of binge-watching :P). Later came to know about books, so you know, this is the first time.

I didn't watch Pogo in childhood (Watched it in my adulthood). I was a loyal Cartoon Network fan then. And they used to telecast excellent stuff then. Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Scooby-Do, Dexter's Lab, Flintstones...and many more!
Ahh..those carefree days of childhood.
Ahh..those carefree days of childhood.
Tonks is really interesting. I don't remember much of her from the movies.
And as usual, Mrs. Weasly steals the show!!

No M. Com! Lol..!
I will certainly do the masters, if not in my field, then in any other random subject, but won't miss it :)

Anyway, I'm so happy you voluntarily shared:D
So we're almost similar wrt HP books and movies :P
Cartoon network yeahh<3
Even I'm a die-hard fan of it!
I've watched power puff girls and Scooby doo(with my dad). Popeye too:P But not that crazy over Popeye solely because he used to eat spinach soo much and I thoroughly hate spinach;)
Johnny bravo and Dexter are more like a guy thing so naturally you'd love it and I skipped it;-)
@booktalk
Yeah. I love Tonks. I was able to recall that she wore a violet colour to her hair while reading now. Kudos to my memory when it comes to HP!!!
But she used to be there in the movies too.
I kinda felt and feel bad when everyone especially Sirius were against Molly. She was so very sweet when she mentioned Harry as good as her son. So touchy..

It's taking all my will power to not to read more than one chap a day -_-
And it's your final year of B. Com right?
Me too felt sorry for Mrs. Weasly :( she's such a sweetheart! Honestly, without Weaslys the series wouldn't be half as good as it is. I love them!
