Our theme for the next group read is Female GD Authors!

There are some ideas here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comm... (Please note KJ Parker is not a she!)

And also here: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3...

You can also ask the lovely folks at GDFR&W Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/grimd...

Igor Ljubuncic (igorljubuncic) | 28 comments It's an awesome series. Very unusual. Very unique. Very brutal.

Chris ( librocubicularist ) King | 3 comments I'm with Miss Lizard Queen (don't you just love the name!) The Emeror's Knife has been on my radar for yonks.

message 7: by Andy (new)

Andy | 34 comments God's War (The Bel Dame Apocrypha) by Kameron Hurley. Technically sci-fi I suppose, but really structurally and thematically much more akin to GD fantasy.

M.L. Spencer | 14 comments I vote for Black Sun Rising by CS Friedman

I would nominate The Mirror Empire also by the same author, and it is GD fantasy.

Hurley is very active in social media, I wonder if she wants to do a Q&A either here or on Twitter....can always ask her though ;)

I read The Mirror Empire also, but I suggested God's War because I enjoyed it more. It's one of my favorite series.

Kameron quickly responded to a question I had here on GR about her new book, so she does seem pretty accessible.

Andy | 34 comments If you want to do a new release, Deborah A Wolf's The Dragon's Legacy comes out this month. She's also in the latest issue of Grimdark Magazine, so I'd say she definitely qualifies.

If you want to wait for a June release that's when Anna Smith Sparks' The Court of Broken Knives is scheduled to be released. She's already being referred to as the Queen of Grimdark.

Some excellent nominations here!

June is a bit late for this group read but I'm sure it will be nominated for the next one!

Deborah A Wolfe's new one sounds good though. Anyone want to nominate that?

message 16: by Jake (new)

Jake Scholl (jakeschollwriter) | 2 comments Jirel of Joiry by C.L Moore. Excellent book by an author overlooked too often.

message 17: by Mark (new)

Heather (bruyere) Godblind sounds interesting and is a female author, however, it doesn't release until June.

Godblind is released a little late, but just like Court of Broken Knives its very high on my list of future reads.

message 28: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (dragonsandzombies) I vote for Black Sun Rising - i just put it on my to-read list :)

Am re-reading 'a cavern of black ice' at the moment because it's been so long since i read it and i don't remember a lot, only that i loved it and it made me feel cold ;-)
