Jaclyn King Bruiser Bruiser by Neal Shusterman is a book about a teenage boy named Brew and his little brother Cody. Brew is and has always been an outcast because he is scary and considered a bully by many people. In this book Brew begins dating this girl named Brontë. But Brew has a secret he can take away other people's pain .So when Brew's uncle starts abusing Cody, Brew receives all the pain and bruises and Cody is completely fine. But when their Uncle Hoyt dies things get tough. Brew and Cody end up moving in with Brontë and her family. When Brew is ready to go back to school things are very hard because everyone at school thinks that he killed his uncle when he did not. Once Brew and Cody move in things become better for Brontë and Tennyson because their parents begin to get along better after fighting they all become a family again. A point of conflict in the book is they have never really had a really family till now do to their parents leaving them with Uncle Hoyt when they were young. A few of the themes in this book are family because everyone needs people who love them around . Another theme is trust because Cody and Tennyson had to trust Brew to help them by taking away the pain when they needed it most. Lastly not judging a book by its cover because when you judge some one without knowing them it can hurt them. I would rate this book a 10/10 because it gives good insight on not bulling people or judging them because they are who they want to be. I enjoyed this book because it was eye opening to me about not judging others.
