Guys, here you can look for reading buddies. Just say the book you will be reading and maybe you'll find someone to accompany you. If you find someone that is planning on reading something that interests you, simply message them and sort things out.

The House We Grew Up In

Its a book about hoarding. My mother was a hoarder, but I have a feeling I will consider Mom an amateur after I finish this book.

Yes I'm thinking about the whole series. It's the first time I'm ever reading it and I think doing a buddy read will help my hesitation a little bit since I'm scared because of the hype. DM me if you're interested

Adding people isn't necessary: a thread is automatically public :)

I think my reading buddy made the group and made it private. She said I can invite people but I don't know how. I'm clueless XD

Oh she made a group! Well, if you go to the group page, you can invite people (only when you're on laptop/computer) by clicking on the link 'Invite People' at the top right. In this group it's right next to 'Events' :)

I'll happily cheer you on. I'm currently re-reading the series myself as I read it with my son (it's his first time). I'm afraid we're already starting Book 4 though...

I would love to do a buddy read sometime, but within a month my final exams are starting, so I will not have a lot of time and before that I have a few books from the library, but after my exams I would love a buddy read! Rather another book, I reread it very recently in the beginning of this year.

Once you have found your buddy, you can message them to sort things out :)

Yes, I really like her writing style!

I created a folder "Buddy Reads" where everyone who has found a buddy can open a thread (or request a thread).
The information must include:
start date + end date
pages a day
participants
The title must be: BR {name of book}, {start date}

In the thread you created/was created you can discuss the book you're going to buddyread together. Once the buddy read has ended, don't delete the thread, cause it can be re-used after you. Simply change the start date to the new starting date.
Spoilers must be marked of course!!! (if you're not sure if its a spoiler, mark it anyway, just to be sure)

but we don't have to use it, do we? i've never done a buddy read before, but if i do in the future, i would prefer to use private messaging, because I know that I don't like getting spammed or spamming others.

Definitely not trying to get rid of this idea, I think it's fantastic and I would use it if the other person doesn't like to dm, but I just wanted to clarify that :)

Speaking of which, I'm planning on reading some classics over the summer if anyone would like to join me. (Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, The Once and Future King, etc). You don't have to read all of them either, but I'd love to have someone to discuss them with!

Well, I have all the books that came out already but I haven't read them for so long that I was planning to start from the beginning
(I stopped in the middle of City of Fallen Angels, right after Clockwork Angel back in college - I was so busy)
