Madis | 4 comments Hi,

the last book I added, an Estonian edition of Albert Schweitzer's Kulturphilosophie (Kultuur ja eetika, Olion 2008, 9789985665367) has disappeared and in My Books I now see The Philosophy of Civilization: The Decay & the Restoration of Civilization/Civilization & Ethics. What happened?

Empress (the_empress) Hi that edit does not show in your edits. Is it possible you did not save? I'm really hoping this is not a merge.

Also the edition that you are quoting: 9789985665367 - was it an edition of The Philosophy of Civilization: The Decay & the Restoration of Civilization/Civilization & Ethics?

Gerd | 1050 comments Looking at the change log, the edition you added got deleted for reasons unknown.

But there would be an alternative second ed. you could switch to:

Tal (taliesien) | 1 comments Looking at the log it appears it was improperly merged.

@Gerd, if the edition Madis added was:

Format: Paperpack, 308 pages
Pub. Year: 2008
Publisher: Olion
ISBN-10: 9985665368
ISBN-13: 9789985665367

your suggestion isn't really a good alternative. ;-)

Madis | 4 comments "My" edition 9789985665367 is indeed an edition of The Philosophy of Civilization: The Decay & the Restoration of Civilization/Civilization & Ethics (including a translation of both parts) and I added it as such: a new edition of that one.

Do I have to re-add it now?

message 6: by Empress (new)

Empress (the_empress) Unfortunately if it is not on the system it has to be re-added. We can do that for you if you wish.

In any case let us know, once the edition is up I or someone else will leave a note not to merge it.

message 7: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16359 comments Madis, had you added it with the ISBN-13? It looks in the changelog as if the merged edition had no ISBN, but maybe only the ISBN-10 is registered upon a merge (which would be disastrous, because in that case we can never be sure whether a merge was done correctly).

Empress (the_empress) #7 Exactly what I was wondering since the edit doesn't show isbn13, but it does show ISBN is empty. Would it quote an ISBN13 number even if it was filled or is this one of the log's problem areas?

Edit: Though in case of no ISBN the merge should still have been into the one with matching title/language.

Of course in this case it is clear that the merge was done incorrectly. But I'm starting to wonder whether other merges with "isbn=0" are always done correctly. Those editions might have had the ISBN-13 field filled in, there is no way of telling if that isn't registered in the changelogs.

Wouldn't know, I don't speak the language and they look the same to me. :)

Empress (the_empress) #9 I agree, that is what I was thinking as well. It might be worth testing this with an empty edition and made up ISBN13 or just asking in the feedback group

Empress (the_empress) I've re-added the edition here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Please let us know if any amendments should be done for the edition
