Poor kid. Though I feel like he will rise to the occasion and become a great human being.

Also can't wait to read more about him and his siblings and Emma Carstairs.

I hope the chatacters in the dark artifices have different personalities than the tmi series. From CoHF Emma seems really similar to Jace..

For me Jules was a little to goodie-goodie. He was so quite and calm, nice and caring. (I like my men unpredictable and dangerous) I know he has the whole father thing riding on his shoulder but I hope to see him grow up and become more like Will(after the whole curse thing) or Gabriel(once he got to be nice)- Jace is already taken by Emma. But other wise I love him, he was so cute before Sebastian showed up and I love the whole family but I have a feeling their is going to be a long lost older 8th sibling.

Agreed. I wish he'd step up, in the book Emma even stated that Julian was always the one to "follow the rules" where as she saw rules as things that were to be broken or bent.

I think that Julian is kind of like Alec? With the whole following the rules and clave thing and not having a very dominant personality compared to Emma.

I think Jules s a perfect to balance out freespirited Emma He is cautious yet doesn't try and hold her back. Even when he doesn't eagree with what she is doing he is still there for her which is awesome!

Oh my god and I just realized that they're goinf to be parabatai like Jace and Alec. Guys, I swear if they're exactly like Alec and Jace that will be total ripping off the characters... I mean I don't know. I hate reading characters that are all the same or similar.

I don't think that Emma is like Jace. She is wild and crazy but she is caring and sweet openly. Jules is also more brave than Alec and I feel he is very wise as is Emma

i think jules is like jem. he has the same kind of calm, caring personality and i think cassie even said that she made jules' personality like jem. :)

I don't understand why the Clave doesn't allow parabatai to be a couple. Parabatai are practically ALWAYS together, they might as well be a couple, that is of course if they have feelings towards one another. And like Magnus said, this parabatai rule "is rather cruel." I ship Emma and Julian<3 :)

I think he's really cute and sweet, at least as far as I can tell. I wish Jules and Emma could be together because I've only saw them in COHF when they were 12 and I ship them already.

Lol to the Will and Jem romance:D though tbh I like how the fact parabatai can't be together brings a dramatic romance for Emma and Jules. It'll be so cute how they'll both secretly start to like each other even though they've been best friends forever. I wonder who will be the first to develop feelings for the other, and I hope there will be a somewhat love triangle, like say Jules or Emma has a boyfriend or girlfriend and Emma or Jules gets a bit jealous and there's dramatic tension and I'm getting so carried away right now...lol

Yeah, I agree. I REALLY hope it's not a love triangle. However, if there's anyone to write a love triangle where it works out for everyone involved, it's Cassandra. But I hope that's not the case with TDA.

I think I heard somewhere that Cassie said there was no love triangle in TDA, at least not with the main pairing. Don't quote me on that though, lol.

Well, there was that whole Alec-Jace thing that happened. And the whole Michael-Robert thing that happened. So...that kind of makes it possible, just forbidden. So...#JulianxEmma!!

The boyfriend is supposed to have red hair, which immediately makes me think Fairchild, though that's highly doubtful...does anyone remember any other redheaded Shadowhunter families mentioned?

There was Henry Branwell, though he was married to Charlotte Fairchild. But he could've had a secret brother or sister or some other relative who had red hair and continued their lineage without any Fairchild blood. I personally like the whole love triangle, because the romance will be dramatic and forbidden, and I don't think it will be as difficult as Jem and Will because Julian, of course, is AWESOME!

If you read the Shadowhunter codex there is a passages about parabatai and why they cant be together. Its actually a more seriously thing than I thought. I just thought it was forbidden due to rules and society but there's more to it. I can quote the passage in spoilers if you want

There reason parabatai are fobidden to be romantically involved is because of this - (view spoiler)["The Middle Ages were littered with Shadowhunter troubadours' songs of the forbidden love of parabatai pairs and the tragedies that befell them. The warnings are not merely of heartache and betrayal but of magical disaster, impossible to prevent, when parabatai become romantically links." Quoted from The Shadowhunter codex, pg 52.

It also says here that the parabatai bond can only be cut by death or in the rare occurrance that one of the partners becomes a downworlder or mundane. The bond can also be broken naturally if one of the partners become a Silent Brother or Iron Sister (hide spoiler)]

And the rule is really quite stupid because wouldn't two lovers want to protect each other and work together, just as parabatai should?

@ Savy - yeah I dont really get it either. Its not really explained that much but it definitely will be in Lady Midnight. Cassie even released a snippet that teases us about the whole parabatai forbidden love thing. Anywag, Im pretty sure cassie has done all this on purpose (the very vague explaination in the codex, the snippet, etc) just to torture us.

Also, in answer to your other question. If two parabatai were to become romantically involved, their relationship with each will be dynamically altered. Yes they would protect each other but that love for each other might get in the way lf their mission.

Anyway, I dont really understand it much myself but thats all the info Ive either heard or read.

I have an odd crush on Julian. Half of me is like "Look at this more attractive male version of myself! We are basically the same!" and the other half wants to marry him.
I really look forward to the Julian/Tiberius sibling relationship. Julian is very protective of him, and yet Ty seems like he has a huge gard up on Jules.
(Jules also makes pancakes so, whats not to love?)

I'm bot worried he's not nearly as hot as Julian.

Read lady midnight and see that Julian is amazing.

Throughout Lady Midnight, I just loved Julian. How mature and responsible he is for his family, what he would do for them. But now having finished the book, I've realised that there is this ruthless undertone to his character. Shows how complex Cassie's characters are. His ruthlessness is understandable, he had to kill his father at the age of 12, because he was Turned. He had to raise 4 kids, youngest being 2. They all had nightmare because of being through the Dark war. Brother taken, sister exiled. An uncle who is well... no spoilers. He has gone through so much that u can understand why he would be ruthless to keep his family together. But because he has that, we don't know how far it could go, what is Julian willing to do, to keep his family and Emma together? Julian is an incredibly complex and interesting character who is the way he is by the circumstances he went through

Awesome description of Julian and very true!!

Favorite character of the book! He's so caring and so broken at the same time. I just loved everything about and I really hope he finds his happy ending despite the freaking law...
