Janelle (janelle5) | 45 comments I just discovered that you can get free Doctor Who books on Spotify. I'm rapt!

Audio books? Could you post a link please? Also, is this with the premium service ($14.99 a month)?

Janelle (janelle5) | 45 comments I can't post you the link sorry. It didn't work out the way I had hoped. In theory you can listen for free, however in practice, you need to have the premium service in order to download and play an album. I guess Spotify free is ok if you are happy to listen to random songs, but if you want to choose an album and listen to it, you'll have to pay for the privilege. I guess it proves the saying that if it sounds too good to be true, it is.
If anyone out there happens to have the premium version, just do a search for Doctor Who in Spotify. For the rest of us...sorry it didn't work out.

Thanks for update!

If you have a membership with Audible.com, they have BBC Doctor Who for sale. Also, the service Big Finish has is quite good and you don't need a membership.

Janelle (janelle5) | 45 comments Thanks Lori, I'm aware of those options but I'm on a disability pension and I don't have a great deal of money to spend on books.

Next best option is to poke the local library system. I have been very surprised and delighted to discover that Albuquerque Public Library has a number of Doctor Who audios, as well as a number of really good books and authors, available, esp. in digital.

Janelle (janelle5) | 45 comments Yeah I poke around. My library has a limited number of audiobooks available digitally. They have a lot more CD books, but I can't get in there to borrow them. So I listen to a lot of Librivox audiobooks which are free and public domain. I have plenty to listen to, but I love my Dr Who, so it's a pity Spotify didn't work out.

Jadetyger Sevea | 73 comments I think you might have been speaking of Big Finish. There are a lot
of BF audios on Spotify (mostly older run audios). You kind of have to hunt for them though. They haven't advertised it much.

Does your library have a request form online? It's always worth telling them that there are people interested in certain types of books and they appreciate when people do tell them because it gives them an idea of what the public would be interested in.

Janelle (janelle5) | 45 comments @Jadetyger I thought they looked like Big Finish books. I found them no worries. Just couldn't play them without coughing up money.

Janelle (janelle5) | 45 comments @Lori my library does have an online request form, though I have never used it. I'll take a look at it. Maybe I can ask for digital audiobooks. Thanks for the suggestion.
