Carolien (carolien_s) The problem with biographies is that one can never pick the ending one wants. I was upset that the love that was so deserved ended so quickly.

Yes Carolien I agree, as with life we never get to pick the endings :( I so wish I could have willed and written a different ending

Thanks for the comments - much appreciated

Carolien (carolien_s) There are a lot of facts in the book, but also a lot of your memory of events. Did you confirm your memories with friends and family before you wrote the book or did you write as you remembered the events?

Diane Brown (Diane_Brown) | 31 comments Hi Carolien, I mainly relied on my own memory, but I did confirm some of them. In the end I also decided to leave out some because they were contested or at least not ready to be faced, and they involved other people

Carolien (carolien_s) I really appreciated your input, Diane. It's lovely to understand the broader context of the book. It's a book that will stay with me and I think very important in South Africa where the impact of the Apartheid system was felt so much by ordinary people and yet it is so seldom recounted.
