I think I might join you for this one since my sister has recommended this book so much lately.

I actually dnf'd The Girl on the Train. I just couldn't get into it and never went back. I just love thrillers so i figured I'd give this author another shot.

Only read opening chapter, but the tension is palpable. Our narrator seems really angry.

So excited to be starting this today!

I'm listening to via audio so it's hard to know where I'm up to, but I'm at 23/87
(view spoiler)[ there are so many characters I'm finding it hard to keep track of all of the stories. From what I've gathered Nel has died in the drowning pool, which she was writibg about due to the history of people dying there, particularly a girl in the 1600s who was believed to be a witch. It's so strange how Jules didn't answer the phone when Nel called. I wonder what Nel wanted. I am so sus on Patrick, I feel like maybe he is involved in the murder. (hide spoiler)]

Haha I have no idea, maybe each time it changes perspectives it's a new number. That's just how my audio copy from the library is. I'm at 32/87 now and I've just gotten into part 2, if that helps? It looks like I'm just before half way.

It doesn't make it easier that there are no numbered chapters :P I'm at Erin's chapter, first time we hear about her.

I know! Usually with audiobooks I'm able to just say the chapter, but there's no numbers :/ makes it hard :P ill update when it looks like I'm half way and then when you get there you'll know your safe for my first update Haha

I feel sorry for lena and how Katie's mother talks to her, she is already grieving for her mum and best friend and then someone is blaming her for Katie's death. I am really enjoying this book. I really don't know how to update this , since there are no numbers and the page count is different 😅
I'm very confused at the moment and I think I don't like the book so far. I'm on the first Erin chapter. Around 40 pages maybe? I seriously can't grasp anything and dislike almost everyone in this book. What's up with all these POV's ?!? I can't keep track.

I still can't keep track and am confused with all the secrets and hints. I'm about 55-60% in. Still not liking the book. It's not what I expected of a book nominated Best Mystery of 2017 so far.

Lena is so effin creepy. I feel like everyone is insane in this book, honestly.

I actually really liked the multiple POVs. Also, each perspective is so short that I feel like I am powering through this.

1/4: (view spoiler)[This book ticked every box for me, from the very first page. I love books that feature local history, family dynamics, rely heavily on the landscape and incorporate multiple POVs. This book does all of that! (hide spoiler)]

2/4: (view spoiler)[I can guess nothing about the trajectory of this plot. Each perspective hints at a secret they are keeping or a mystery from their past and I can't even begin to see ow they will all slot together. (hide spoiler)]

I finished it, WOW THE ENDING.

Aaah, I'm excited. I'm half way through and am going to spend the rest of the afternoon finishing it.

Monday 17 August Lena (view spoiler)[ the last words she told her mother were " it is your fault that Katie is dead" Please Lena specify. I feel like she leaves so much empty space, just empty statements that I know are part of the mystery but there isn't ONE statement that she finishes. All are hints and I don't get most of them. How would her friend's suicide be her mother's fault. IT'S A SUICIDE, doesn't matter if the person jumped off a cliff, or stayed outside in the cold to freeze. (hide spoiler)]

This book should be renamed to "THE BLAMING PARTY" since all of the characters are throwing accusations left and right.. I'm gonna specify in a second.
Wednesday, 19 August Erin (view spoiler)[ when the pills were found and Louise started trying to make excuses for Katie's suicide. Lena was blaming her mother and now Louise is blaming Lena. One train of blame that is. And this grates on my nerves "I know it's too late to punish her but it should be made known don't you think? What she did? " our lovely Louise says that. Who do you think should be punished Louise? Nel? Lena? Why? Cos your daughter COMMITTED SUICIDE? Yeah, I get it she did lose her daughter and all. I was extremely sympathetic at the begging and I understand where she is coming from, the need to protect her daughter's soul and to keep her memory intact and to prove that she didn't kill herself, we get it. But that was too much. Slapping people, insulting people, behaving like an insane person. (hide spoiler)]

25 August, 2nd Jules (view spoiler)[ WELL THAT WAS anticlimactic .We wait so much and nobody wants to reveal their secrets or hints or whatever and Patrick just goes like .. well I pushed her and I pushed my wife anddd yeah there is that. So disappointing. It's bugging me how quick he was to reveal this but was hiding it so much throughout the book (hide spoiler)]
