Happily Ever After Cafe discussion

Over in a Flash - hopefully will be a reoccurring challenge.

I stole this idea (with permission) from the SOS: Serious Overload of Series group.

Over in a Flash ~ Cover Hunt & Theme Challenge ~

Duration: July 1st through July 31st.

Rules: Read at least 2 books with the following themes, or items found on their covers, or colors from the options below. Be sure to post your book covers, dates read, and star ratings. Feel free to do as many as you want, as many times as you wish.

Member Choosing: Lisa - (Aussie Girl), has been a GoodReads member since May, 2010, and a participant of Happily Ever After Café since July, 2012. She is dedicating this July Challenge to her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Zoey, who are born in July, only three days apart and are both turning 29 this year!

COLORS: Blue and/or Purple - their favourite colours!

JUNE THEMES: (1) American Independence Day & Bastille Day, France: {July 4th & July 14th, respectively} • Read a book set in the USA or France, where a character has to fight for what they believe in, or with a military theme. (2) Parents Day: {July 23rd] Andrew and Zoey have three children (my awesome grand kids!) aged 3 & 2 years and the littlest is 5 months - which keep them on their toes. • Read a book where family is the central theme. (3) Tree Change: This year they decided to leave their jobs in the city to take over our family farming business. • Read a book set on a farm or in the country or where the characters make a major change in their life. (4) Paranormal/Sci-fi or Mysteries: Andrew’s favourite books are paranormal or science fiction and Zoey’s are Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum mysteries. • Read a book in either of these genres. (5) National Lasagna Day: {July 29th] • Read a book with a food theme, eg, set in a B & B, character is a cook or a chef or likes to bake, a special meal is served, an occasion is celebrated with food or the characters go on picnic. (6) Beach or Park: With a young family, this is their favourite day out. • Read a book with either scenes set on a beach or near water, or in a park or garden.

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware |3½★'s| Jul 7

I haven't finished my review for this one, but it definitely held my attention. The author has a wonderful writing style that allows the reader to sink right into the story with ease. There were a couple of things I didn't like about the execution, but they are very minor. I'll expand on those things in my review. Overall it's a decent suspense thriller that will keep you guessing!



Watership Down by Richard Adams |4★'s| Jul 7

This one took a little time to get into, but once I did, it was a really good read! I'm amazed I haven't read it until now! I enjoyed this author's introduction at the beginning of the book about how the story came to be. If you've never read the book, remember these words from Richard Adams:

"I want to emphasize that Watership Down was never intended to be some sort of allegory or parable. It is simply the story about rabbits made up and told in the car.

A very enjoyable story that I'll definitely re-read!
