..my week 1 post may be a day or two late; I've not had a chance to start reading yet! But I will catch up :)

Week 1 questions!

1. This time around the prologue shows us what became of The Thing That Abandoned Venus. Any ideas about what the purpose of the Ring might be?

2. New book means new characters! Do any of these newcomers stand out to you at this point? If so, who and why?

3. It looks like bureaucracy is finally catching up to the Rocinante crew. Do you think they'll actually lose the ship?

I'm also behind because this weekend is MALcon where Jacqueline Carey is the guest of honor. We leave early tomorrow morning for Denver (about 6 hour drive from here) and I've been listening to Carey novels this week in preparation. So excited!

But then Daniel Abraham might be at Bubonicon at the end of the month (he's half the writing team behind James Corey). So I will get back on track in case he's there. I can tell him how we all spend hours a week discussing the nuances of his books.

Was Holden right to head off on his own? And how do you think he'll fare now that he's been captured by the Martians? And is his crew still alive?

On a related note, how do you feel about the new POV characters now? Are you warming to any?

Do you think Earth and Mars will agree to the OPA's plan? Do you think they'll be stuck forever in this weird starless place or will they get back home?

1. It's the question of the month, so I'll ask it one more time! How do you feel about our newbie characters now, given the various states of fallout/conclusion for their stories?

Miller pays Holden one more visit, though it seems he isn't finished with Jim yet. What are your thoughts on what happens here?

3. "We can go through those gates, though. We can go there."
