I read the first Rabbit book and that was enough for me. He was a vile creature in that one as well.

This is the third book of the Rabbit series. Harry "Rabbit" Angstrom is middle aged car salesman living in his mother-in-law's house. He is running the car dealership and is pretty content with his life. His son Nelson comes home from Colorado and wants to work at the dealership. Harry is against this. Then Nelson's pregnant girlfriend shows up and a hasty wedding is planned. Ma Springer goes behind Harry's back and arranges for Charlie to take a leave of absence, making room for Nelson. With Pru and Nelson living in the house, Harry and Janice finally buy their own home. Harry is a vile character. The way he refers to women is disgusting. I can't believe this book won a Pulitzer. I don't think Updike is an author for me.
