Mirkat | 276 comments Just creating the thread so people can start discussing their week-six books. I will paste Lauren's post from the general "Summer Reading Program Weekly Reading Themes" thread:

Hi guys,

The idea is just to read something you normally wouldn't pick up-- so it could be as simple as trying an audiobook instead of a print book, or a perhaps a graphic novel, if you've never read one before.

I'm going to put up a display here at Pine Hills next week, and some ideas I had were:
A translated book
A book over 500 pages
A book written before 1800
A fantasy, sci-fi, or horror book
A non-fiction book
A graphic novel or audiobook

I like the idea of an uncomfortable topic, too! I might put some of those up.

Mirkat | 276 comments So, as I mentioned in the other thread, I chose to interpret the theme as "uncomfortable topic." My review of A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy can be found here.

Kathleen | 71 comments I picked up "The Bluest Eye," since I don't often get books from that section!

Alicia (readersbeadvised) | 124 comments While I've actually already challenged myself by reading a bit book, I have also not read many memoirs/biographies of celebrity-types, but have steadily become interested IF I find something particularly intriguing. This was the case in reading Sherman Alexie's memoir Sherman Alexie's memoir knowing his other works. Didn't disappoint.
