Can you remember it? The VERY first book you downloaded on your Kindle? (Besides the wonderfully "useful" manual)

I remember like it was yesterday.

I BEGGED and pleaded for a Kindle for Christmas. Everyone told me, "You don't read, Meghan. You don't need a Kindle." My argument - - > If I had a Kindle, I would read.

So logical.

I started a campaign. It was Quinn/Kindle XMAS 2012. I hit the campaign trails hard, talking about the Kindle every chance I got. And you know what? My harassment paid off because not only did I get a Kindle, but I also got $150 in Amazon gift cards. I hit the freaking book nerd jackpot.

Frothing at the mouth (only slightly) I logged onto Amazon and started browsing. I wanted the biggest bang for my buck. I was new to reading and had no idea BLOGS existed so I was flying solo in my reading journey.

The only thing I searched was romance and I went from there. Amazon started suggesting books. I was completely overwhelmed, and then, I saw something that intrigued me.

THE BOX SET!

Oh what a glorious thing the box set is. Can I get an amen? Knowing that you got a DEAL on multiple books that all coincide together, pure reading bliss.

New to the box set, I start scanning through all the different options until I found a mystery romance by Gemma Halliday. The cover was cute, the blurb, spot on, and it had romance in it. PERFECT!

So, I made my first purchase and started reading.

Holy hell, I couldn't put the book down. GAH! The heroine is sassy, freaking funny, and a hot mess. I loved her so much. But the HERO . . . *waves fan in front of self* Ramirez, freaking sigh. When ever he had a scene, I got all tingly inside. It was the first time I actually experienced the whole book boyfriend sensation. And from there, I went to read the rest of that series and all her other books.

What about you? What was your first book you read on your Kindle?

Not a failure at all! I'm just weird and remember it so distinctly because it was such a new thing for me. But Gemma, ugh, she's sooo good!!!

I remember RECEIVING my first Kindle..... It was Christmas, and my parents are kind of assholes about gifts and hide everything. So at the end when you're just sitting there looking for and missing the ONLY THING YOU WANTED...its never there. Then my mom stands up, and goes up stairs to make breakfast and I remember sitting in the big overstuffed chair staring around the basement where the tree is.

That was the ONE THING I WANTED. Ugh, and I was such a brat. I was so sad. Finally after I pouted forever, my mom came back downstairs and tossed a thin box on my lap.

It was the kindle.

I don't remember the first books I had on it, but I remember sitting with it in my lap, afraid to get it ruined. I had that same kindle for about 8 years before finally upgrading.

Crystal Solis | 3 comments Oh my first kindle book....it was Broken & Screwed by Tijan. After I read it I cyber stalked her and kept telling her to hurry up with Book 2. That's how I found out about The Fallen Crest Series....she said she was about to release Fallen Crest Family (book 2), so of course I had to read Fallen Crest High so I'd be ready for two...I was hooked. Her books are like my version of crack. 😳😁

Amber - TBR Book Blog (tbrbookblog) | 4 comments I want to say that my first book was probably a Stephanie Plum novel by Janet Evanovich or something by Nora Roberts. Both were HUGE for me as I was reading in high school and college... They helped start my love with the Romcom genre.

Amber - TBR Book Blog (tbrbookblog) | 4 comments I won't lie and I'm risking getting kicked out of here, I've never read The Mother Road. I don't know why, just haven't!

Char Sowers (lightningcitybookreviews) | 8 comments I was very anti-Kindle for a long time. I can be the type that thinks "Oh everyone has a Kindle, I prefer real books." Then it became "Oh everyone has a Kindle, I'll get a Nook!" On my Nook I think my first book was a Bella Andre because it was a B&N promotion and I thought that was the Shit!!! I was thinking B&N were benevolent Gods! LOL I then used the Kindle app on my phone. I can't remember what the first book was though. The reason I broke down was because I started reviewing and books were sent to Kindles. Happy story! I won my Kindle fire from Helena Hunting in 2015.

Tanya Rae ~ TaSTy WordGasms (taraewall) Yes I can remember the author but, not the title of the book. Beatrice Small was the author. I don't know why but, I was kind of embarrassed because my friends were reading a lot of self help books and here I was reading romance and if you have ever read any of Beatrice Small's books they are historical erotica and she has been around for a long time.

Brandi Aga (brandiaga419) | 3 comments My mom got me my first actual kindle (that wasn't the app) for Christmas plus a year of KU a couple years ago. It was the original one. My first book on it was Seven Sons by Lili St Germain!! Then my husband got me a newer fire last year. I always feel like I'm betraying my first kindle when I use it lol!

message 22: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (staceyissassy) My first book was Compromising Positions and it was the start of a beautiful relationship with my Kindle. My hubby bought my first and second Kindle for me, and besides my hubby and boys, my Kindle and coffee are my next loves. ;)

message 23: by Manda (new)

Manda (manda666) | 2 comments I was very anti ebooks, always prefering the real book. I remember scrolling through facebook and came across an ad for Fearless by Devon Hartford and after downloading this to my computer, tried to read it but couldn't really get into it. Then my better half brought me an ereader for Christmas 2017, (once I got this, I read everything that I could including the Fearless series) which was great until it died on me, so switched and brought a tablet and as they say, the rest is history and I haven't looked back. I download anything and everything that I can get my hands on and I haven't picked up a hard copy book since. The only thing I miss is the smell of a new book when you first buy it and open it, they should bottle the smell and sell it.....

T.R. Cupak (tcupak) | 2 comments I couldn't remember if my first Kindle e-books were The Twilight Saga or The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset, so I just logged onto Amazon and they have that amazing feature where you can go to your "Content and Devices" and sort by oldest to newest. I had to do that to see which box set I had purchased first and low and behold, it was The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset on March 8, 2012. THGT were the first books I read on my Kindle and Kindle app for my iPad mini.

For those who cannot remember and try my search method, keep in mind that this little trick will only work if you are still using the same Amazon email from when you bought your first Kindle e-book.

As for iBooks, Nook, or Kobo, I do not know if there is a way to check that. I only know that Winnie-the-Pooh automatically downloaded in iBooks when I first login to check it out.

Wow, that was a long answer for such a simple questions.

Heather C | 12 comments I apparently thought I was super cool so my first downloads in 2011 was Pride & Prejudice and War and Peace. HAHAHA. Yes, I've read those a long time ago and in my defense I had been away from reading for years. After that it looks like it was Vegas Moon by John Locke. Never read it and to be honest if I looked at it now, I wouldn't even download it.
