This thread is for discussion of the story by the Brother's Grimm of Rapunzel and the Disney animated film: Tangled. Of course any other animated versions you have seen may be used too! :)

1) What do you think of the changes between fairytale and film?
2) Given that both story and film feature Rapunzel as the main character do you think both stories portray female roles equally? Or does one version hold to the 'damsel in distress' archetype more than the other?
3) Do you think the animated version holds the dark themes of the original still? Or does it dilute them?
