Me too.. I listened to the audio narrated by Jake Gyllenhaal and it was wonderful.

Love that version
BTW - Welcome to the group!

Jordan Baker and Nick.
“You’re a rotten driver,” I protested. “Either you ought to be more careful, or you oughtn’t to drive at all.”
“I am careful.”
“No, you’re not.”
“Well, other people are,” she said lightly.
“What’s that got to do with it?”
“They’ll keep out of my way,” she insisted. “It takes two to make an accident.”
“Suppose you met somebody just as careless as yourself.”
“I hope I never will,” she answered. “I hate careless people. That’s why I like you.”

Count me in with the people who like Gatsby. I have read it several times and enjoyed it most when I recently (3-4 years ago now, probably) read it and spent some time doing a little Google research. As I get older, and superficial research gets easier to do, I find that I really enjoy reading about what I am SUPPOSED to glean from classics. I do not often pick up on them while reading, but it is interesting to learn about them.

Nicole, I'm with you. I read the book then meditate on it for a while until I am confident in how I feel and what I gleaned from the book then google what other people find and say. I find it interesting and really has helped me appreciate works on a deeper level.

The book is narrated by Gatsby's neighbor, Nick Carraway, who is one of the few honorable people in the story. Fitzgerald includes an assortment of other characters who have their own flaws which adds to the drama as events unfold. I see why The Great Gatsby is a classic.
