Colin Forbes (colinforbes) | 534 comments Not a plot spoiler, just a throw-away moment in the book. I did a double take when in passing we meet people campaigning for “The Committee for an Independent Great Britain”, making political capital out of the events in 2054 Oxford to encourage people to ‘Vote to Secede from the EC’.

The organisation is fictional but the tone of the argument is uncomfortably close to some of the xenophobic nonsense that was peddled during last year’s referendum vote on this very topic. Painfully prescient.

Vanessa | 105 comments Agreed! She was spot on with that. Not quite as spot on though (view spoiler)

Brendan (mistershine) | 930 comments I just assumed that the Pandemic that's referred to in the backstory is one that specifically targeted phones, and the mortality rate was high.

David H. (bochordonline) Should've had telephone sanitizers. Douglas Adams had it right.

I suppose they needed to build a wall...of antibodies!

The nonexistent Like or +1 button really bugs me!
