I love the way Carver captures ordinary speech, the conflicted actions and motivations of run-of-the-mill broken people. I loved the ambiguous nature of so many endings. These stories are so short, but he reveals so much in so few pages.

What an interesting collection! I can't really review them individually, since they are so short, but they do all have this theme of love or hate or affection or connection, some a little more disturbing than others, but all very real to the human experience. Very insightful writer. I will have to read more of him.
