I'm looking at upcoming releases and wondering what everyone else is looking forward to.

This month I'm curious about Jade City.

Persepolis Rising, the 7th Expanse novel. Coming early next month.

OATHBRINGER

Have I mentioned I'm really interested in this book called Oathbringer? It's a book that comes out in three days, and I'd say overall I'm somewhat to fairly ecstatic about it.

I just got Provenance by ann Leckie and I loved Ancillary series so hope it’s good.

I WAS excited about Artemis - Andy Weir’s newest but....some reviews have me worried and it’s moving down. One said simply “this book is really bad.”

I already read the two November releases I was impatiently expecting:

The Prisoner of Limnos by Lois McMaster Bujold -> Penric! Did not disappoint.
Romancing the Werewolf by Gail Carriger -> Did not meet my expectations, which may have been unrealistic. I feel like I simply must add that this is the only thing I would ever read which combines 'werewolf' and 'romance' in the title. I normally avoid both in title and content. Although I'd most likely read a Remus Lupin romance novel.

The next ones I'm most eagerly waiting for drop in January:

Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire
The Night Masquerade by Nnedi Okorafor

Interestingly these are all novellas, I swear I have many novels on my radar, but they've all been released or the release date is spring or later. I'm sure I'll add many once I see what others are looking forward to.

Uh-oh. That's disappointing.

This month I'm interested in:
The City of Brass - Heard a lot about this one and it sounds intriguing
Into the Drowning Deep - I loved Rolling in the Deep so this is a definite read
Mass Effect: Initiation - Mass Effect written by Jemisin? Yes please
Jade City - Also heard a fair bit about this one that had me intrigued.

I loved Provenance.

Artemis wasn't bad for me. It was just kind of middle of the road. The story is fun, but I don't think his characters are the best, especially his main character.

Oh yeah - the parasol protectorate novella!! I am looking forward to that - who doesn’t love Biffy?! I hope it was just too much expectation that let you down??

I also am looking forward to those January books!

I love Biffy and I love Lyall and I especially love Biffy and Lyall together! It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I wanted, but I'm not going to spoil it for you by telling why.

Cast in Deception - I've pre-ordered this and it will arrive January 28th

Some of these are already out, but they have to wait until I finish my Alphabet Challenge, which I'm going to complete this year for the first time ever,

The Core - the conclusion to the Warded Man series

Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok - The Art of the Movie - I loves me some movie art books. Pre-purchased.

A Plague of Giants - saw this at the library yesterday, so I'm going to get it soon.

The Overneath - short stories by Peter S. Beagle? Yes, please!

Change Agent - a Daniel Suarez sci-fi thriller is always a must-read for me.

The Lost Plot - the continuing adventures of the Invisible Library.

Paradox Bound - I like Clines' Ex-Heroes series, so I'm giving this one a try when it comes out.

After I read Caliban's war, I decided to take a break from that series. I pre-ordered Artemis on audible. I am so sad to hear that it is getting bad reviews. I also can not wait to get my hands on Marissa Meyer's Renegade.

PSST Jasiel and Phrynne, we'll be continuing our unofficial buddy read through Oathbringer, you should come freak out with us about how great things are.

Two that were released in September that I'm dying to get my hands on are An Unkindness of Magicians and A Secret History of Witches. Oh! I'm also seriously anxious for Future Home of the Living God.

John Conroe's newest book I the demon accord series. Although I would really like to buy the last 3 as paperbacks, can only get them here in Aussie land as ebooks. So I have bought the ebook version and wait for the paper version to arrive.

And yes I can buy them from America and pay $20 plus for shipping.

Oh my goodness! I just saw that World's End, sequel to The Snow Queen, is being re-released this month! I have the hideous 80s cover that I would never be seen in public reading.

Thats one is so bad I doubt that I'd have even given it a chance a getting the blurb read.

Reviving an older thread here- seems to be the season of new releases. I am really excited about:

The Lost Queen - a historical fantasy about Merlin’s twin sister. It’s super long and I have no idea where I’m going to fit it in but I’m dying to read it.

The Silence of the Girls - another historical fantasy about Helen of Troy. This one seems to be getting some very positive review.

I'm looking forward to Silence of the Girls since it's written by Pat Barker, who wrote some excellent books set in WW1!!

Im fighting with myself whether to put my name on the hold list at the library. Most of the copies are still listed as on order and there are already 12 holds on it- but I have challenge reads to catch up on. Serious dilemma. I’m so close to finishing both challenges I’d kick myself if they were complete this year.

I'm starting The Lost Queen on September 18th. I have the Net Galley.

All these look great. I really need to start Leviathan Wakes. I had it slated to read this year and it kept getting pushed back in favor of buddy reads. I think I’m going to have to leave December open just to catch up on stuff I wanted to read this year.

My current most anticipated is The Raven Tower. I gobbled up the Ancillary books as they came out--very unusual for me!--and unfortunately have had trouble getting into Provenance. I am incredibly curious what a fantasy of hers will be like.

That one is on my list too! The blurb looks like it’s written in second person. Do you think the whole book is like that?

I'm looking forward to The Winds of Winter, George R.R. Martin and of course the upcoming season!

Yes! Very excited about The Raven Tower.

When the award nominations came out earlier this year, I read a bunch of the short fiction nominees, and quite enjoyed what I read by Sarah Pinsker. She has a short fiction collection, Sooner or Later Everything Falls Into the Sea, coming out early next year that I'm looking forward to.

Pepperharrow by Natasha Pulley, because I absolutely adored The Watchmaker of Filigree Street and can’t wait to read the sequel.

I forgot to mention the unnamed 7th book of the Frontline series by Marko Kloos. Seems like I am the only one reading it so it often escapes my memory.

Plus, the last book in the Luna trilogy, Moon Rising.

And definitely yes to buddy reads! I don’t even know that I need a boost to read it, it’s just that I need someone else to hold me accountable to my commitment to read it lol.

Luna: New Moon was my first McDonald book as well....but I have his new book Time Was in my maybe list. And I just noticed you also have it in your shelf. So maybe we can try BR this when copies are available for us? :D
