Calum (zedseayou) | 1 comments The Librarian Manual indicates that 2-in-1 editions (and presumably, by extension, similar omnibuses such as Seed to Harvest) should not be combined. I would love to understand more about the reasoning for this, and what the best practice is for users when encountering these types of books?

I would like to be able to provide individual ratings for the collected works in this volume, as well as individual reviews. Is the best way simply to note this in sections of a review? This seems like it would remove access to these reviews from the individual book pages. Or is it permissible to create editions of the individual books that represent their printing as part of this volume?

Scott | 8635 comments They shouldn't be combined with the separate works, but they should be combined with other books collecting the same exact material.

Currently the only way to rate the individual works is to find those book pages and rate them. You can, of course, review each book in the text of your review for the omnibus. It's true it won't show on the individual book pages.

Do NOT create new editions to "represent" what is in the omnibus.

So, for example, Seed to Harvest would not be combined with any of the individual Patternist books, but is correctly combined with this collection of the same 4 books: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

If it were combined with Wild Seed and the others, imagine the confusion!
