What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

It is a trilogy. I can't remember name or author of books. One of the main characters are Rachel who was a prostitute who later marries a priest after returning back to ireland. And amelia is a young girl that Rachel saves from forced prostitution. I know that the people would be shipped away from their home country. After commuting crimes or being poor or just sold into slavery. I'm thinking ireland but it could be anywhere else. I also think it is christian teens but again not sure. I read this series in 1996. If that helps. I've been trying to find it again for so long.

Maybe something by B.J. Hoff - she wrote a lot of Christian fiction centered around Ireland or Irish characters.
or maybe Code of Honor - it's book one of a series where 3 sisters move from Ireland to Australia, indenturing themselves.
or something by Patricia Hickman - maybe her Land of the far horizon series. "In 1788 England sent a fleet of ships to begin a colony in New South Wales, Australia. But, this wasn't just any bunch of colonists. They were convicts accused of crimes in England and sentenced to hang. Instead they were transported to Australia to embark on a new life." The second book is about a girl named Rachel.

Was he an ex-priest (since Roman Catholic priests don't marry)? Or could he have been Anglican?
