Definitely check out Poppy Z. Brite's books, too. Lost Souls was her first novel and it came out the same month this list was published in Fangoria.

"This novel is truly the last word in vampire worship. Rich with luxurious descriptions, it wraps itself around the reader like an overstuffed velvet chair in an opium-scented chamber. Talbot’s vampires are an evolved race of sensual beings who revere the artistic and scientific achievements of the human race. The book’s storyline follows one Dr. Gladstone, whose idiot savant daughter has been abducted by the vampires. The opulent furnishings of the lavish Parisian mansion where he is imprisoned celebrate the organic overkill of Art Nouveau style, climaxing in the “suffocating beauty” of an intense greenhouse swelling with intoxicating orchids."
