Michael Pischak (michaelpischak) | 3 comments Have not read any of the series and own the Blu-ray of the movie. I heard the movie was bad, but will it matter if I watch the movie before I start the series?

ALSO: I was under the impression the movie was only going to be covering book one of the series, yet it is called The Dark Tower. Please tell me they didn’t turn a 7 book series into 1 movie. Please...

Tim Gunter | 120 comments It won't matter at all. The movie is kind of confusing thing when it comes to what it's supposed to be, but the makers did what they could to make sure it can be watched without having read the books.

It's not an adaption of the first book, but it isn't really all 7 books crammed into a single movie. Best I can describe it really is that it's basically it's own thing, with numerous things from all throughout the series tossed in for fans. Which is basically why a lot of fans dislike the movie as much as they do.

Michael Pischak (michaelpischak) | 3 comments Thank you. Helpful I am trying to decide what to tackle next. Sanderson‘s Stormlight archive trilogy or the Dark Tower Series.

Tim Gunter | 120 comments I'd say go ahead and go with the dark tower series next. I've read the first two books of the stormlight archive, and while I enjoyed them greatly, from my understanding it's a planned series of 10 volumes. So I've got to suggest the series which is complete first.

Michael Pischak (michaelpischak) | 3 comments I was unaware it is supposed to be 10. Wow.

Tim Gunter | 120 comments If I remember right it's split in half or something. So the first 5 is about one story, and then the second 5 is another story. Not fully sure how it'll be though.
