Beneath a Scarlet Sky
question
Is this a fast paced book?

Or the pace is like The book thief? I hate book with such slow pace. So is it fast paced and intriguing?

It good book but its not really a fast paced book, but its okay.
I skipped over this book for a while and finally decided to read it after all the great reviews. Im so glad I did!! I have not read The Book Thief but I would consider myself an avid reader and I absolutely loved this book. I found it fast paced and intriguing and the fact that it is based on a true story makes it one of my best reads this year.
It was based on a true story, that in itself makes it an excellent read. We tend to forget the awful events that other countries endured during WW2, this book brings to light the atrocities that happened in Italy. Excellent read.
I loved this book. I have been enjoying the time period and the fact that it was based on a true story makes it doubly good to me.
Not a necessarily fast paced book, but the detail is amazing, intriguing and insightful.Reading this book is eye-opening. When comparing this book to The Book Thief, I prefer Beneath a Scarlet Sky to The Book Thief.
I am starting this discussion up again because I finished this book recently. Funny, I am Italian and Irish and about a quarter of the way in I actually took a look at the name of the author and was shocked this was written by a Mark Sullivan! The Italian setting is perfected.
I do not like war stories but this one truly held my interest. Sullivan is a great writer. There is only one aspect I didn't like and revealing that would be a spoiler so I'll refrain. This one is definitely worth a read.

I traveled to Italy recently, so I uncorked this book and it took me a long time to really start tasting the strong red wine...It was good!
But historical fiction is a bit like that. A lot of backstory to set up the scene. If you really enjoy fast pace historical fiction, read King of Pawns: A deadly game of espionage chess And this one is actually based on true events quite recently.
