During the trial, Mickey focuses on one particular juror, Mallory Gladwell, to get a sense of how effective he’s being. As a device, was it helpful to you throughout the story? Do you believe most attorneys have a juror (or several) that they use as barometers during trials?

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I was actually expecting to find out at the end that Mickey was wrong and Mallory wasn't buying any of his defense.

I assume that a lawyer will try to figure out which jurors are buying his defense and which are more likely to believe the prosecution. He would gear his effectiveness by how they are responding to him.

I found it very helpful to see Mickey gauge his effectiveness through a tough juror. I’m always so biased towards him when reading these stories.

It never occurred to me until this story but attorneys need to have some objective measure as to how they’re doing in a trial. If they can identify an alpha juror, I’m sure they go with it.
