Doomsday Book

Timeline by Michael Crighton or the entire Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. I couldn't decide. All the above mentioned are good choices too.

Otoh: Once in a lifetime, everyone should eat one potato chip.... ;)

(and I second Doomsday Book)
These two are my all-time favorites and wouldn't know which one to choose.

The Outlander series is pretty good, but the time travel isn't central to the plot, it's more just a vehicle for putting the main characters in interesting situations.
