Turbo Twenty-Three
question
who wrote it?

I was heartened to read some of the reviews that some people liked it as much as others in the series. I don't mind so much that Stephanie and crew are caught in a time warp where they never age and never move on as some have.
But this book didn't make me laugh out loud. The scenes that should have been hilarious (spoiler alert) like the naked and afraid scenes and the bungee jumping, were not written in a way to make me laugh. In fact, the whole book seemed to jar a little in the writing.
Now Evanovich has co-written other books etc and these are always noted as such, so why would that not happen here? This is her flagship series though.
If she wrote it herself, and I have no reason to think she didn't except that I didn't feel it was her style, then it came off to me as if she is tired of the series and the style in which she was writing. Maybe writing the other series and novels is more interesting now and she would like to leave this behind, but hey, its lucrative.
I stopped buying these, even in paperback or at the used bookstore, so I don't feel cheated by it. Maybe its me getting tired of the series, (I recently found the same with another series I read, the Jack Reacher novels, but didn't think it wasn't written in the same style, but that author doesn't write other series)
In any case, I won't read 24 unless I'm hard up sometime.

I stopped reading these books because I thought the series was becoming repetitive. I loved the series until one day I realized that every book was just like the last one but with some different characters. I decided to give them another chance and bought 22 and 23. They are not as humorous as the first books were. I'm not sure if I'll read 24.
