Joe Swithers | 12 comments Pike Logan is a great series. I have not read the Polaris Protocol yet but the other 4 are excellent.

Jake (jake1164) | 4 comments I have read the first 4 of this series and I found them to be a great read!

I didn't realize there are two more in the series I have not read: Polaris Protocol and Days of Rage. I added these to my to-read list so I can catch up :)

message 4: by Keith (new)

Keith | 2 comments There are also three "short" stories that are digital downloads available through B&N (probably other sources as well). They also follow along with the Pike Logan story line.

Roger Weston | 27 comments I just came across Days of Rage last night. It looks like a great read.

message 6: by Jon (new)

Jon Kurtz (jondkurtz) Beth - I've read and enjoyed all the Pike Logan novels by Brad Taylor. They are similar to the Jack Reacher Books from Lee Childs, non-stop action, but with the international/spy intrigue of Vince Flynn's Scot Harvath. What you get with Taylor, that is absent in the others, is a strong female character. Jon

Douglas Barrow (dabarrow) | 6 comments I plan on reading Brad Taylor's books now that I'm caught up with Brad Thor's books. I've read all of his except "The Athena Project" and I have that book in my library and will be reading it soon. I have enjoyed each one of his books and have had each one of them personally signed by Brad at Murder By the Book in Houston, TX. Yeah I'm a big fan! Brad Taylor made an appearance at MBTB a few weeks back but I missed it. Maybe next time.

Vince Flynn's guy is Mitch Rapp. Scott Harvath is Brad Thor's guy.

I don't believe I ever read any books by anyone named 'Brad'.

message 10: by Steve (new)

Steve Dalton | 6 comments Read all of his books and plan to keep reading them. I do like the use of a strong female co-lead in his books and think it probably helps with his female readership. Just read the most recent "Days of Rage" and thought it was pretty good other than the ending. I think he should have made it more than a simple epilogue, but that's just my 2 cents.

I stand corrected. To my point, those who enjoy the characters of "Scot" Harvath and/or Mitch Rapp will most likely enjoy Pike Logan.

I think this is accurate.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 2 comments I've read One Rough Man and liked it, and I will continue the series. I too like that Jennifer's character plays a strong role in the book and subsequent books in the series.

message 14: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Henderson (joycegoodhenderson) | 4 comments Yes, have read all of them. While I enjoy Brad Thor slightly more, Brad Taylor's books are a good and quick read.

message 15: by Joe (new)

Joe Swithers | 12 comments I agree I like Thor a little more but Pike Logan and his (recruit) Jennifer are great reads

message 16: by Joe (new)

Joe Swithers | 12 comments Ben Coes is great also Dewey Andres is a little like Jack Reacher

M.J. Kephart (mjkephart) | 3 comments I just read One Rough Man not too long ago and enjoyed it. Plan to read more.

message 18: by C.A. (new)

C.A. (cadayhoff) | 4 comments Good Reads.. but maybe a little to technical which takes away from the story(unless you like that)
He also writes in the first person style( writes as the Pike) which is a little bit different.
Explains the government BS in getting things done a little much, takes from overall Story(I realize Brad has that experience but we don't need every little detail because we do get it already:)
And also works the damaged person(Pike)a bit much..
Of course this is all my opinions.. I am going to read all his books because I like them :)

message 19: by Stacey B (new)

Stacey B | 117 comments Yes, have read many of his books. Entertaining, but can usually guess the end. I loved the book "Edge Of Tomorrow" and all Daniel Silva Books. Any suggestions??

message 20: by C.A. (new)

C.A. (cadayhoff) | 4 comments I like the Douglas Preston books..
Just a warning tho, they hook you early but the endings are a bit light..

John Sanford books are good..Murder/mysteries

Barry Eisler "Rain" series is good.. but don't waste your money on his last book.."Graveyard of Memories" It's just a rehash of all the other John Rain titles..

There are more I like to read.. I'll add as I think of them..

message 21: by Stacey B (new)

Stacey B | 117 comments OMG- I absolutly agree with you re Eislers Graveyard of Memories. Have read most all, but I dont think Ive read any Preston books. Will check him out to see. Getting a little bored with same old same old. Thank you for quick response.

Samuel | 648 comments The Forgotten Soldier A Pike Logan Thriller (Pike Logan, #9) by Brad Taylor

Book 9. When a special forces soldier is killed horribly in Afghanistan, a Taskforce operator mourns the loss of his brother. When he finds out that a foreign government official had a hand in his sibling's death, he's out for blood. The only problem? The death of his target would ruin the many deals with devils that have been made in the fight against international terrorism.
Standing in his way is Pike Logan, who has to decide whether to destroy his comrade, or sacrifice his own unit and the administration which runs it for the sake of allowing someone to get even.

message 23: by Samuel (new)

Samuel | 648 comments My favorite Brad Taylor books are his third and fifth entries. Book 3 had two seriously unexpected twists for a then recent writer and book 5 had an very unique threat that while not possible in the real world is a whole lot more horrifying than any normal weapon of mass destruction.

Chris, Thanks for comments. Good to know. I'm not a big fan of first person either.

I just started reading the first Jack Reacher book by Lee Child and noticed the first person narration. It's driving me crazy to be honest. I hope I can get used to it. Does he do that with all of the Jack Reacher books?

message 26: by Samuel (new)

Samuel | 648 comments Never seen the problem with first person perspective. And Mr Taylor's hybrid first/third person perspective is actually quite fun. Got used to it by the second book.

Child? No, he does alternate between the types of narration. for his novels. Although it's haphazard. Some books are written in third person, others in first.

message 28: by James (new)

James Roby | 22 comments I'm not nuts about the First person. I read a Splinter Cell, because I met the author and The Assassin by Stephen Coonts and they did that back and forth thing. Still, I'm interested in Brad Taylor and definitely will add to my ridiculously long to read list.

He's fantastic. While he doesn't mind showing off his undeniably impressive knowledge of counter-terrorism, he also appreciates things such as pacing and character development. Hence the technical details in his books almost never get in the way of the plot. He also doesn't try do "product placement" and turn his books into an "ordinance catalog" like the other Brad does.

Roger Weston | 27 comments Has anyone read Marc Cameron? I just came across his name for the first time. It looks like he writes some action-packed tales.

I wish someone would add all these newbies and their titles to our bookshelf. I don't know them well enough...

...what I'm looking for is for someone to generate a list of these 'sizzlin' titles so I can add them to our shelves. Its not my area of expertise.

Its embarrassing for some of our new members to go looking for bestsellers like 'American Assassin' --or something from Baldacci, or Preston/Childs--and NOT find it. But heck, I don't know any of these johnny-come-lately authors, I don't know their names or their titles.

Samuel | 648 comments I've added Mr Taylor's work to the shelves.

message 35: by Danield (new)

Danield | 1 comments I've read them all.The whole series tops 5 stars .
They are all top researched and very thought through till the end
Brad Taylor comes in a line with Brad Thor,Daniel Silva and I dare say with Vince Flynn and that means very much to me
By the way I've just read Ben Coes Independance Day ,I read it through in a go
the best thriller I've read in years,it does top "I am Pilgrim"
Daniel

One Rough Man (Pike Logan, #1) by Brad Taylor
The Dig A Taskforce Story (Pike Logan #5.5) by Brad Taylor
The Recruit A Taskforce Story (Kindle Single) by Brad Taylor
All Necessary Force (Pike Logan, #2) by Brad Taylor
Gut Instinct (Pike Logan #3.5) by Brad Taylor
Enemy of Mine (Pike Logan, #3) by Brad Taylor
The Widow's Strike (Pike Logan, #4) by Brad Taylor
Black Flag (Pike Logan, #4.5) by Brad Taylor

Days of Rage (Pike Logan, #6) by Brad Taylor
No Fortunate Son (Pike Logan, #7) by Brad Taylor
The Insider Threat (Pike Logan, #8) by Brad Taylor
The Forgotten Soldier (Pike Logan, #9) by Brad Taylor

His current output. The man is prolific.
The "writing machine" is a nickname his fellow writer and Delta Force veteran "Dalton Fury" gave him and it's highly appropriate.

message 37: by Jake (new)

Jake (jake1164) | 4 comments I'll second reading them in order, however, dont worry about the number of books, you will blow though the series in a hurry.

message 38: by David (new)

David Quit reading one rough man at the 40 percent level. In my opinion it was contrived story line at an eighth grade writing level.
