Melanie | 103 comments Hi lovely Scotland Readers,

we are off to Ullapool at Easter and I always like to find a book that's set in the area I am going on holiday to. So do you have any recommendations for that? Does not have to be Ullapool specifically but Wester Ross area. Can be novel or non-fiction.

Thanks

Ullapool is in the far north-west highlands. It's one of the ferry ports to go across to the Outer Hebrides

I cant remember whether you have already read it Melanie, but His Bloody Project: Documents Relating to the Case of Roderick Macrae is at least set in Ross-shire.

The thriller writer L G Thomson lives in Ullapool (and I think her books might be based in the Highlands, but I haven't read any of them).
