Any other topics you’d like to discuss? Your overall opinion of the story? Do you plan to continue the series?

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I liked the story. The mystery wasn't super hard but I enjoyed the setting and the interplay between Sarah and Frank.

My same impression. I really liked that I was fairly clueless about this part of the era and the realities of the police department. Much of this was new territory. Definitely looking forward to reading more.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I really liked this book and thought it was a great start to the series. I found the setting was one of my favorite parts of the story. You certainly don't find many books set in NYC in this era. I've visited NYC several times and talked to a woman who leads a tour on New York City during the Gilded Age. She told us some very interesting things about the city at that time. When we visited the Met, we also saw a display of Gilded Age furniture taken from some of the homes on Fifth Avenue. Much of it was right out of the Astors and Vanderbilts homes.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Lauren, does the spoiler info help you recall the details of the story?

Yes, thanks. However, I didn't really need it as I remember this one quite well :)

Lol! I think the word is incestuous.

I enjoyed this book. It was a good introduction for me into a new series. I'm really looking forward to our next read. I'm also interested to see how long it takes Frank to change my mind about him.
