Luke (korrick) | 2004 comments Nervous Conditions, Tsitsi Dangarembga, 1988, Zimbabwe, NOVEL

"...The patriarchal traditions of her own culture oppress women, while British colonial education takes native children from their parents, literally and figuratively...Bitterly, with barely repressed irony, she points out the wrongs, and then lovingly describes a pathway, a pool, the face of a woman..."

(E.B., p. 151)

Marcy (marshein) I read this book many years ago; it had been recommended by another great writer, Doris Lessing. I still remember this book, especially the main character. I love it that people are reading so many of my own most beloved books.

Zanna (zannastar) | 180 comments I loved and savoured it, such a wonderful book
