You're very welcome Catherine! I may jump in on your read myself, if I can manage it. I've only read two Agatha Christie novels so it would be a good opportunity for me to get another one in ^-^

Catherine Pinkett | 45 comments Thank you. I've read chapter 1. usual Poirot starting with introducing characters. I find that often I have to re read character introductions to get an understanding in my head as often they arrive fast and furious as in eg And then there were none. ten at once!!!!!

You might wanna take notes on this one. Seriously - lots of folks on that train. I needed a flowchart!!

Mom2triplets04 | 32 comments I started to read but want to tell you I'm not liking the writing style. I just hate when I have to skip words to read a book and sometimes it has language (French I think?) that I don't understand and I'm not looking up every word I get to or I'll never finish the book. lol I'm reading it slowly a chapter here and there as it frustrates me. I read for enjoyment.

message 24: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Pinkett | 45 comments I understand what you mean. Agatha seems to like introducing loads of characters at once and its a little mind blowing trying to work out whose who

(Since Poirot throws in bits of French.) One of my favorites is "A Murder is Announced".

Tiana Hadnt | 7 comments This is, hands down, one of my favorite mysteries of all time, and the first Agatha Christie novel I ever read!

Mom2triplets04 | 32 comments Ok switched to audio and started the book over again. I'm liking it better with the audio. I'm up to chapter 8.

message 29: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Pinkett | 45 comments Hi guys just back home and I am able to read more. chat later x BTW I just ignore the French you're not missing anything!!!! the story makes sense without it

message 30: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Pinkett | 45 comments CHAPTER 3

Well we are getting slowly introduced to more characters on the train. My love for Poirot's character comes from watching the much loved TV adaptation in the UK featuring the actor David Suchet. I think Poirot is shown as a more likeable character as he appears in the books. This is the second Poirot where I find him somewhat arrogant and rude. He describes the ladies as 'ugly as sin' ' yellow toad like face' not very flattering. shows its age. people were much more quick to label and judge others especially if from a different class system. So shall see how Poirot continues. slow so far.

message 31: by Mom2triplets04 (new)

Mom2triplets04 | 32 comments Finished the book today. Audio was better than reading it but they should have had multiple narrators since a man was reading the ladies parts. Didn't guess that end. Gave it 3 stars it didn't wow me and found it a bit repetitive.

Catherine Pinkett | 45 comments CHAPTERS 4,5
I love Agatha's books but finding this very slow to get going. nothing much happening

message 33: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Pinkett | 45 comments CHAPTER 6
Oh at last there's been a murder!!!!

message 34: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Pinkett | 45 comments CHAPTER 7,8
Poirot and the Dr examine the crime scene and gather clues! I don't understand what Poirot does with the hat box wire and charred paper? am I a bit thick? I also think it strange that from a few charred words he decides the true identity of the victim. not enough explanation as to why for me. I don't think we can out rule the Dr as a suspect even though he has been assisting Poirot

Catherine Pinkett | 45 comments I've finished
well guys I was very disappointed in this book. This is the mist boring Agatha I've read. It felt disjointed split into three. The story didn't flow. There where no real clues to lead you to the ending. I thought the ending unrealistic. Not worth the hype 2* from me!!!!.
