Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments Phase 1 – Round-Robin

The initial phase will be the Group play to determine which sub-genres/themes move through to the play off-round.

This round will be 4 weeks long - Aug 1 to Aug 31

Sign-ups will be open until July 29th

For this phase, there will be eight groups of 5 sub-genres/themes. Participants will be randomly assigned to one (or more) of these groups

1. During this round, you will read a minimum of 5 books - one for each theme in your assigned group

* You may opt to be assigned to more than one group, please state this in your sign-up post with how many groups you would like to be assigned to.

* If you finish all your books for your first group prior to the round completion, you can request to be added to another group in this thread.

* If you opt to participate in more than one, you need to complete all the books in one group prior to moving on to the next, for ranking purposes. (for example, if you are assigned to group A and group H - you need to read all of the group A books, before moving onto the group H books)

2. Players will read a book in each of the group's sub-genres/themes and rank the overall themes from 1-5 (most liked to least liked).

3. At the end of phase 1, I will add up the scores for each genre and the 2 with the highest score from each group will move into the play-off round.

If you come across a theme that you want to avoid you may, however, you will be unable to rank that theme (obviously) and will not receive points for those books.

message 30: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments Karla wrote: "How about ménage, To start?"

Tymber Dalton is a favorite of mine - she has several menages - love slave for two is one of them - it was one of the first that I read

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 2657 comments Early 20th century?
NOOOOOOOOOO!

message 32: by Karla (new)

Karla Andrews | 5 comments Thanks, dee. I'll start with that.

message 33: by Penney (new)

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments I might need a little push in the right direction for 'space opera/aliens'. Also for 'stranded', although it seems like it should be self explanatory. Thanks :-)

message 34: by *Nan* (new)

*Nan* (nan4471) | 170 comments I like the idea of each team having its own thread! It would make things so much easier w so many of us

message 35: by Rayne (new)

Rayne (raynebair) Thanks. Hmm. I'll need help with Victorian and new adult. I read primarily MM and I really am not a big fan of historical. And is there such a thing as mm new adult?

Question. Would Pulse by Gail McHughes be considered new adult? Last resort of course but maybe?

message 36: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (minipepe) | 101 comments Dee wrote: "sorry Jennifer - its too late...but there will be a second round (the knock-outs in the future), so keep your eye out"

Darn I thought I had till today to sign up.

message 37: by *Nan* (new)

*Nan* (nan4471) | 170 comments Brooklyn check out Ava March for historical but check page count since a lot are under 150

Breann | 398 comments Penney wrote: "I might need a little push in the right direction for 'space opera/aliens'. Also for 'stranded', although it seems like it should be self explanatory. Thanks :-)"

We must be in the same group. I think I'll just follow you around and stalk your books choices.

Try The Postmistress or The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society or The Great Gatsby

I think something like Plan B would be new adult.

just remember that romance has to show on the main page

message 42: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments New Adult - is basically age 17 through college graduation - if you need an age basis

Rayne (raynebair) Nan. Thanks. I'll look her up and see if anything appeals.

Dee. Is that audience age or character age?

message 46: by *Nan* (new)

*Nan* (nan4471) | 170 comments Brooklyn any college age m/m could count for NA unless you want M/F

message 47: by Rayne (new)

charater age - if you read het - then books like Easy is a popular one

message 50: by Rayne (new)

Rayne (raynebair) Oops. Sorry for the double post. The gr app crashed.

So NA should be easy enough. Wolf shifter. Piece of cake. Ménage. Yep.

Mythological? Hmm. Like Greek gods or something? Any suggestions on this one?
