Anne ✨ Finds Joy (annefindsjoy) | 718 comments UPDATE #1: Participants have been paired up. See message #21 below
UPDATE #2: Summary of books chosen - see message #43 below

Duration: March 1-31, 2018
Sign up period: Until February 28, 2018
Partner pairings announced: Feb 28/Mar 1st (announced in this thread)

For FULL details of how the copy cat challenge works, please visit the 'About Copy Cat Challenge' post here...

SUMMARY:
In this challenge, participants are paired up to choose and read a book from their partner's read shelf, and compare how they each rated the book. It's a fun way to discover new books, to read from different genre(s), to connect with group members, and to find new PenPals. This challenge repeats monthly, and you sign-up separately for each month you wish to participate.

COMPLETING THE CHALLENGE
- Week 1: Review your paired partner's 'Read shelf' and choose a book(s) to read. Post to this thread to update your partner on the book chosen. (You can ask them for suggestions too!)
- Week 1-4: Begin reading, and post any updates/thoughts as you read.
- Week 3-4: Complete your read, and post to the thread with final thoughts on the book and comparing how you and your partner each rated the book.

Participation = Post to thread (book choice), Read book, Post to thread (finished book thoughts)

NOTE:
Please only sign-up for the month if you are reasonably confident you have time to choose and read a book. If you are no longer able to participate after signing up, please update in the thread, so that no-one is left partner-less for the month!

Amber M. McCarter (mommyultd) | 169 comments Hello, Sam!

I haven't decided on a book quite yet, just wanted to check in :) I see we've read a lot of the same books though!

Sami (indulgentreaders) | -1 comments Hi, I've divided to read the Raven boys.

Hi Megan!! Your 'read-list' has so many books from my TBR, and I am thrilled that I have lots of options to choose from! I think I will start with the Divergent series (since I purchased them two months back only!) and see if I have time to pick more books later.

Hope you find something from my list. I am relatively new to GR, so haven't been able to update ALL the books that I have read.

Khrystyna (khrystynakv) | 21 comments Hello Abhi,

I was looking through your Read pile on your profile. There aren't that many on there but that's alright. I have narrowed it down to four books that I'd like to start reading for this challenge. Perhaps I'll read all 4.

But the first book I picked up is 50 Shades of Grey by E.L. James.

Hope you find something from my list. Its very long haha. :)

message 23: by Marisela (new)

Marisela (mariselaa) | 8 comments Hi, Afa! I've decided to read The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson.

message 24: by Ann (new)

Ann | 38 comments Hi Steph!
I'm excited to do this challenge again...it's been a few months for me. There are so many books on your Read list that are on my TBR but the one I've been wanting to read the most is Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, #1) by Benjamin Alire Sáenz so that's what I'll be reading...and I can't wait!

Missy (Purplemadness) | 31 comments Hi Annie!! I accepted your friend request and I have picked Flames in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh.

I found some of my much awaited tbr books on your READ shelf... I have decided to go with The Hating Game

I hope you find something nice to read too.

My chosen book has been To All The Boys I've Loved Before.

Hope you love your book!

Jazzy Lemon (jazzylemon) | 494 comments Cher Jeferson,

I am very pleased to make your acquaintance in the Copy Cat Challenge. I hope we shall become great friends - mucho gusto!

I will be possibly reading 1984 by George Orwell as I have a lovely paperback of it here in my house, unless you would like to recommend something else? I can read some basic Spanish, French, & Dutch and have considered Le Petit Prince - but I have given my copy to a friend.

Hopefully you will be able to find a book to intrigue you from my list.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon,

Jazzy

Hey! Lovely choice. And it's completely alright if you haven't read the previous book. This was my first read by author as well. :)

Hello Ann!
I am not quite sure which book from your read shelf I will be reading.
[bookcover:The Handmaid's Tale|38447] Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli are my top 3. ;)
Have fun with your choice!

message 34: by Sami (new)

Sami (indulgentreaders) | -1 comments I finished Raven Boys today, it was a good read, i gave the book 5 stars, Amber gave it 5. It was a little slow to start for me, everything was nicely interwoven by the end. I will most likely read the rest of the series at a future date.

The minimum requirement to fulfill the challenge is 1 book from your partner's shelf. But you can definitely read more as you have time / interest. Some participants typically read just one, while others will read multiple (especially if it's a series :))

Hope you're enjoying/enjoyed your book!

Megan!! I am halfway through Divergent and to say I am loving it is an understatement! So glad I picked that up from your list. :D

How's it going for everyone else?

message 42: by Annie (new)

Annie | 89 comments Hello Missy,

I have decided to go with 'One of Us Is Lying ' as it sounds intriguing, and different from what I usually read :) Will start once I finish my current book.

message 43: by Khrystyna (new)

Khrystyna (khrystynakv) | 21 comments I finished 50 Shades of Grey last night. It was a pretty okay book. Its not something I would read but since the movies have been coming and such I decided to pick it up. I gave the book 3 stars, Abhi gave it 5. When I started reading it all I could think about was Twilight since everyone that I know who has read it compared it to that. I did notice many similarities. But the book is very easy written and honestly if I had more time I could have finished it within a day. Its really easy to go through.

message 44: by Mishika (new)

Mishika (mishikasingh) | 21 comments I finished Divergent last night. It was one of the first fantasy fiction books for me and I gave it 4 stars. Megan has given it 5 stars. I think I stuck to 4 because of the predictability of the book (I am TOOpicky for 5 stars). Apart from the deaths towards the end, everything else was pretty much as I predicted. However, the reading experience was totally worth it and I will be picking up the next two in the series very soon.

Annie | 89 comments Hello Missy,

I finished One of Us is Lying, it was so addicting! I really couldn't figure out who did it, till the end and then it made so much sense. Such a good book! 5 stars for me :)

@Alohomora310 - have you messaged Michelle to verify she's still able/planning to participate as your paired partner? I'm not seeing a post with her book choice as of yet, but there's still time...

Jazzy Lemon (jazzylemon) | 494 comments Hola Jeferson!

I'm on page 130/368 of Nineteen Eighty-Four
Although I first read this in 1984, it's amazing how much I've forgotten about Winston's life in the dystopian past.

How is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer coming along?
If you need a copy here is a free online pdf:

Ann | 38 comments I finished Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, #1) by Benjamin Alire Sáenz and I really liked the book.
Steph gave it 5 stars, I gave it 4 stars.
I loved the story and the coming-of-age-ness of it, but I thought the chapters ended too abruptly, as did the end of the book.
I didn't think the end was going to be the end because of how abrupt it felt. But I still loved it. I loved that they discovered the secrets of themselves.
