Yes, I want to read Everblue as well. Did I add that to my to-read list? I'll have to go back and check.

Finished Guarded Heart, and now time to read The Watcher of the Night Sky!

I've decided to wing what books I'll read this month instead of doing a TBR list for the whole month.

I know it's most likely not the same, but the movie adaptation of Beautiful Creatures is amazing. (I haven't read the book yet, so I can't be sure about the accuracy lol.)

message 14: by Josephine (new)

Josephine (jomarie2005) I'm currently re-reading The Iron Trial because I read it a long time ago, and I really enjoyed it, but I just didn't keep up with the series. Anyway, I'm reading it again so I can read the rest of the books without getting confused. :)

message 15: by Addison (new)

Addison Carmichael | 77 comments I'm in the middle of These Broken Stars by Kaufman/Spooner. Pretty good, so far.

I watched the movie, and it was good on it's own- though based off the book not so much. But I did enjoy it too!

I loved The Iron Trial, I read it earlier this year and was pleasantly surprised :)

Yeah, movie adaptations can be really annoying when it comes to staying true to the story, but in my opinion, most movies are inspired by the characters and the world the author created. So it's up to the director to add their creative flair and switch things up a bit. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I like it when a movie isn't an exact retelling of the book.

Yeah, I like movies on their own when their based off a book or series. Compared to each other- no. But on their own both are great!

message 26: by Addison (new)

Addison Carmichael | 77 comments I agreed actually. Movies and books are two very different mediums, and can both be great when developed as such. As long as the movie stays true to the structure of the story, the retelling in visual/audio form can be just as exciting as the novel, just different (as it should be). Although not often (enough), there have been movies that have actually been better than the novel. "Love Comes Softly" by Jannette Oake is definitely one of them in my opinion.

A Walk To Remember is one where I liked the movie better than the book.

Same for me, usually when I watch the movie before I read the book- I like the movie better. When I read the book first I like the book better.

message 30: by Addison (new)

Addison Carmichael | 77 comments It varies for me. But I do prefer to read the book first, then watch its movie version. Many times characters/inner dialogue/scenes are explained thoroughly because they have the time and space, so I can delve more into the story itself and pull more out of it.

I prefer to read the book first, but there were a few times where I didn't know the movie was based off a book until I watched it the second time.

You know something else? I really don't like it when a book is made into a movie and then the movie poster or like a sticker of the main character in the movie is put onto the cover. What do you think about it?

I HATE when they do that!! I can't stand movie adaption covers, I just want the original covers.

exactly

message 35: by Addison (new)

Addison Carmichael | 77 comments Yeah, that mostly bugs me too. If you read the book first, you develop your own idea of what the characters looks like, and they're very rarely similar to the actors in their movie adaptations.
