Teri-K | 305 comments I'm doing a challenge where I have to read a book that is at least 150 pages long and the author's last name must be hyphenated. I'm completely stuck, as I don't want to buy a book for this task, but find it at the library or on OverDrive, Guttenberg, or some source like that.

I read lots of fiction and non-fiction, particularly anything related to history or mysteries. I don't care for horror or erotica. But I'm getting desperate and would really appreciate any suggestions you might have.

The only author I've found so far that I can access is Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, and I've read The Little Prince twice and never got why everyone likes it so much. Plus it's too short.

Thanks!

going through my TBR list....
Audrey by Dan Bar-el
Free as a Bird by Gina McMurchy-Barber
A Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton-Porter

...that's all I can find right now. I know it's not much; I'll look more later. For now, I hope it helps! :)

But no authors who are in public domain.

Edit:
Found one - Gene Stratton-Porter

Teri-K, if you like mysteries, and especially the mysteries of Arthur Conan Doyle, you will like Sherlock Holmes of Baker Street: A Life of the World's First Consulting Detective. (Yes, I own TWO copies of this book--one without a dust jacket, one with. I wouldn't trade either of them for anything.)

Teri-K | 305 comments Apologies if my earlier reply shows up and this is a repeat...
Thanks to everyone for your great replies. I knew there had to be a lot more writers out there than I was finding.

I'm making a special push to find new authors to read so I'm saving this list and will be checking out a lot of these. For now I'll use Stratton-Porter as her books are easily accessible and I know I like them. But I hadn't stumbled on her while I looked, so thanks to both who suggested her.

I can't get Baring-Gould locally or on OverDrive. I hadn't thought to check Guttenberg and others, so I will do that and perhaps get another new author to read!

Thanks again to all who took the time to reply. I really appreciate it!

Keith | 224 comments Cecilia Dart-Thornton (Fantasy author with a very distinctive, elaborate style that actually pulls off sounding like old myths/fairytales like Tolkien and other early fantasy)

Brittany | 312 comments Tracy Cooper-Posey has her books on overdrive. If you don’t like too much steam, stay away from her paranormal romances, but her historical romances are perfection in my opinion. And she has a great sci-if series and a military action-packed series as well. Check out Scandalous scions series if you like historical

Moloch | 342 comments Alicia Giménez Bartlett, although the name is not always written hyphenated

(it is on some covers, like Death Rites (Petra Delicado Mysteries, #1) by Alicia Giménez Bartlett )

I had this task pop up again on a challenge and decided to check out the authors that had been suggested again, and found even more folks have replied. Everyone's willingness to help is appreciated.
