I'm not great at reading challenges for some reason – I tend to get distracted, but I've decided to give this one a go because I have a lot of African authors on my reading list anyway.

I'm going to do a north-south challenge: Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana/Zimbabwe, South Africa.

Egypt
Alifa Rifaat: Distant View of a Minaret and Other Stories (4 + 6 pts)

Sudan
Leila Aboulela: The Translator (4 pts)
