David Reiss Hey, all

I recently self-published my first novel, "Fid's Crusade", set in a world of superheroes and villains; the story follows the adventures of a veteran supervillain by the name of Doctor Fid as he continues his never-ending quest to punish those heroes that he deems unworthy of their accolades.

It is a tale of grief, rage, guilt and violence. Also, humanity rediscovered.

If anyone's read it, I would absolutely love to discuss it with you!

(available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble Nook, iTunes, Smashwords, Kobo, etc)

David Reiss Thanks!

I was young when I read John Gardner's "Grendel", and I've had an affection for monsters and anti-heroes ever since. While I love stories about the square-jawed heroes and determined heroines that struggle against impossible odds to save the day, I'm also always fascinated by the villains.

More often than not, heroes are reactive: a bad guy is plotting something horrible, and the hero has to step up to prevent the bad guy from succeeding. The villain, on the other hand...the villain is usually more proactive. The villain makes decisions, starts the ball rolling. There has to be a reason for that--some motivation, some goal, some inner pain, something that drives them to reach out and risk everything to change the status quo. Something terribly human.

There are stories there, I think.

(That is not to say that I only write about villains; I already have ideas for future novels that will focus on some of the heroes of Fid's world. I'm having far too much fun to stop with only a single viewpoint character. :) )
