Rowan and Citra take opposite stances on the morality of the Scythedom, putting them at odds, in the second novel of the chilling New York Times bestselling series from Neal Shusterman, author of the Unwind dystology.

Rowan has gone rogue, and has taken it upon himself to put the Scythedom through a trial by fire. Literally. In the year since Winter Conclave, he has gone off-grid, and has been striking out against corrupt scythes—not only in MidMerica, but across the entire continent. Part 1 (view spoiler)[ Well what an interesting start!! Rowan is scythe Lucifer, which I had a feeling he would be. I'm not sure I 100% agree with what he's doing, but it makes sense in a way. I'm glad that he and Citra are still somewhat friends too. I hope they can eventually work together on this issue. I have a bad feeling about this job Tyger got from Scythe Rand :/ (hide spoiler)]

Part 2 (view spoiler)[ the Thunderhead is so awesome. It reminds me of AIDAN but far more gentle. It was such a genius move to make Greyson an unsavory and basically an undercover agent. I wonder if Citra and Greyson will work together eventually? And who is trying to kill Citra and Marie!?! I need to know! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 1-9 (view spoiler)[ its interesting to see that Rowan is indeed scythe Lucifer.and i like how he is rooting out the corrupt scythes even if i dont entirely agree with his methods.how did scythe rand survive.....i have my doubts about the job she has for tyger.its interesting seeing the thunderhead's point of view too. Part 3 (view spoiler)[ FUCK things seem to be going bad. I don't like Purity and Graysen doesn't have anyone to help him now that Traxler is gone. Like shit! What is he supposed to do now!? And Rowan was being an idiot and got himself captured. I'm mad because all of this is happening and Citra/Marie are at risk which is UNACCEPTABLE (hide spoiler)]

Part 4 (view spoiler)[ WOW IM EVEN MORE FURIOUS NOW! Fucking Tyger was killed so that his body could be used to resurrect Goddard. WHY GODDAMMIT WHY! I hope Rowan kills Goddard and Rand by the end of this series. Or that Citra does it. I'm kinda glad that Purity is dead at least. And Graysen managed to save Citra/Marie, but the Toneist Cult sounds horrible. (hide spoiler)]

Rowan is doing is own "good" by gleaning bad sythes. He is judge, jury and executor. Can't say that is a good idea.

I'm sort of annoyed that the adults are portrayed as being a bit stupid, not quite with it and the kids are the smart ones. I've always had issues with this with YA. (hide spoiler)]

84% (view spoiler)[ I'm getting quite convinced that the first scythes actually made the Thunderhead and that thunderhead told them with calculation at some point there will need to be 400k scythes and that's why there are so many rings ready available. Also that beating heart, possible the heart of the first scythe ? or the person making the thunderhead or so ? And maybe they're use that heart to ""revive"" 1 (the) oldest scythes and that is like the emergency procedure (hide spoiler)]
