One Flew over The Cuckoo's Nest is one of the legendary American novels, written by Ken Kesey released in the early 60s. This unique story takes place a mental institutions. The story is told from the perspective of Bromden, who has fooled everybody in his ward in thinking he is deaf and dumb. From Bromden's point of view everything is run by the “Combine”. Which tries to control all the patients by the use of machines that are put into them when they are being treated. At the head of all the evil is head nurse Nurse Ratched a cold, calm, and collected nurse who doesn't put up with the games of the patients. Everything seems pretty dull until a new patient arrives Randle McMurphy and shakes things up. This is my second time reading this book, and I have to say I have enjoyed the book way more than the first time I read it. I think One Flew over The Cuckoo's Nest did a great job of developing the characters overtime. A prime example of that is with Bromden. At the start he was a walking contradiction, he was 6’8’’giant who was scared of everything so much to a point where he didn't speak and acted like he couldn't hear. As the book continued however, with the help of McMurphy he ends of breaking his chains metaphorically and physically. I enjoyed this. This book also does a great job in letting the reader read just for plot and still be a great story or look for deeper meanings of conformity and being who you truly are which are the main messages of the books in my opinion. There is nothing I don't like about this book This is an amazing story. I recommend this to anyone who wants a good read form a book that is not too long. This story also is great for english classes, As I have read this book in 10th grade english and found it to be really interesting.
