Debt of honor is another installment in the Jack Ryan saga written by Tom Clancy and released in 1994. Most of Tom Clancy's books are about war, this book is no exception. The story starts out in New York City, where we are introduced to our first character Raizo Yamata. He is a Japanese Businessman in New York to purchase a U.S mutual fund group. We are then abruptly moved to Tennessee where a car crash between two Japaneses made cars takes place leading to the death of 6 people. This seemling leads to ressemint for Japaneses made products. Which forces the U.S to change its trade policies to cut off exports to Japan (seems a bit harsh to me). The book continues as Japan retaliates by going to war, and our main character Jack Ryan is introduced to help defend the country.
I didn't like this book. While I was reading I found myself reading over the same parts a few times to understand what was happening, not because the text was hard but because this story seemed a bit forced to me. The way Tom Clancy tries to go betweens setting is very confusing. The story doesn't seem very believable to me, which demotivates me from wanting to read the book. I understand this is fiction, but his book are based in reality. The story wasn't all bad. I like Jack Ryan as a character and especially is purpose in the story.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this book. I didnt drop this book because it wasn't that hard of a book to read and I needed this to get to the 2000 page mark. However, if you want a book that not to challenging or you like alot of tom clancy's other books, I think you would like this book. It just wasn't for me.
