The Obsession By Nora Roberts is a thriller filled with pain, past memories, death, family and love. Nora Roberts mainly writes mysteries and is very good at it. Her other books I have read all meet the same high standards. She is an a New York Times Bestselling Author, therefore there is nothing less to expect. This book was published in 2016, just to add another book to her collection of many books published. This book is on the longer side but it is the perfect book to read on the train.
Naomi had to grow up fast. There was never time to fool around. Everything she has been through has taught her to be secretive, secure and lonely. The book starts off with Naomi finding the truth about her father at a very young age. She is deemed a hero by this but isn't sure if she actually is one. Yes, she saved someone but what about her father. He is now banned from her life. This action turned this farm girl's life upside down. From paparazzi to tons of news articles. This girl’s story is everywhere. But it's not the truth behind her, Naomi is more than her father. However her father’s actions forces Naomi and the rest of her family, to leave everything behind and live with her mom's gay brother. Her uncles take them in without a problem. But how long until someone figures out their secret. Will Naomi’s mother be able to handle this new life. Naomi and her brother are the stronger ones. They end up seeking a new life. Naomi becomes a successful photography traveling the world before settling down. But past memories and past conflicts can follow a person carefully. Will Naomi find safety? Will this new serial killer be caught?
There are two serial killers in this story and I wish they were given more of a storyline between them, especially Naomi’s father. We quickly find out he is a serial killer and we never figured out why. It becomes an unsolved mystery of Naomi’s life. There is always a reason why someone does something, what explains Naomi’s father’s actions. The other serial killer also misses plot in his/her storyline. Like what happened after high school? What brought you back to Naomi, even though she explained to him/her its not your story. I wish Nora Roberts gave me more on both of the killers.
I do recommend this book to others. It is a great book with great language. The storyline keeps you on your toes, waiting to find the truth behind the obsession of Naomi.
