How did you feel when Nehemia's fate was revealed?

message 2: by Raghav (new)

Raghav | 6 comments I sort of knew it was going to happen because the cover said "a terrible tragedy strikes" or something and when Chaol was informed of a threat on Nehemia's life I just put two and two together. That didn't make it any easier to accept though, and I think I was in denial for a while, and had myself convinced that she faked her death and would show up and knock on Celaena's window apologizing for the grief she caused any day now.

The worst part was the description of the scene in the room when Celaena finally made it back to the castle, because just before she enters she notices that there are no signs of a struggle and almost has me convinced that nothing happened but then the way Sarah describes the gutted bodyguards and Nehemia's broken body lying on the bed is so heartwrenching I had to go back and read it several times.

Sarah (rollswithscrolls) | 4 comments I knew something major was going to happen to one of the main characters, especially with how Celaena was taking all of this information about the rebel movement. I thought something was going to happen to Chaol, but when that scene between Queen Elena and Nehemia came up, my heart shattered into splinters that numbed my body. Nehemia was so willing to do anything to make things right;to move things along. And she accepts her fate with poise and dignity, and despite how her room looked afterwards, she accepted her fate with grace. She knew it had to be done and she accepted it.
My heart goes out to her, and I just hope...Nehemia makes appearances (through a portal?) in upcoming books. I wish this scene was faked, just to get Celaena to wake up to the truth of her fate, but sadly...it never came. I love Nehemia so much...If her fans feel this way...I can't imagine how SJM felt having to force herself to write and read through that scene.... < / 3

Helen | 8 comments Sad. She was such a good friend for Celaena. The only female she's been able to completely trust. I felt that Celaena thought they would be friends forever, hence she was so angry and devastated by what happens to Nehemia.

Anum | 15 comments i think Nehemia knew Celaena's true identity from the beginning ..I felt really sad for Celaena because Nehemia was only female friend with whom she always shares things with..

i also pictured Nehemia and Dorian together..

S Jakes | 21 comments Have you read the novella called the Assassin and the Princess? The tailor in that immediately recognises Celaena for who she is. I also think that together Celaena and Nehemia sum up the entirety of those who stand against the King; those who have experienced the pain, and those who have seen it and suffer second-hand.

Alexis (kwabbey) | 3 comments Nehmia's death does something so powerful to Cealena my heart just breaks for them both. I also hope the scene was just a big screw up but I kept reading and nothing ever changed.... But I think Cealena needed the wake up call and I think Nehmia's knew it was time for her to step it up again so she just gets herself offed. Such raw and powerful stuff

message 10: by Safa (new)

Safa Syed | 8 comments I was absolutely devastated and felt horrible for Celaena because she lost another person close to her!I actually cried and had to re read the part to believe it (well the first time I read it)

I think that Celaena had every right to be mad at Chaol but no so much so that she would actually kill him! That's what really bothered me, because Chaol was partially to blame because he should have said something but it was not entirely his fault and it broke my heart when I read the part where Celaena would've stabbed him if Dorian hadn't stopped her!

message 11: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (Elmira001) Celaena has been put through so much, she just snaps sometimes. I feel like Nehemia was her first true friend and her death is not going to help her want to make more

message 12: by S (new)

S Jakes | 21 comments I think part of the reason Celaena was so distraught at Nehemia's death, wasn't only because Nehemia was a true friend to her, but because it reminded her of the last person she lost: Sam. And that's why the feelings of betrayal are so strong.

Claris Aira Salanga (thewarriormaiden) | 7 comments It completely devastated me when I read the part if Nehemia's death. :( I mean, what would you feel if you lose your best friend that understands you better than the others?

Her death was very brutal. What would you feel if you see you best friend on her bed dead in her room scattered with blood? I think I will feel the way Celaena felt when she saw Nehemia's body.

I thought, from the beginning of the book when they met that they would help each other until the end. Yes, Nehemia helped her in COM some time after her death but it was not enough for Celaena because Nehemia kept lots of secrets from Celaena that Celaena will need for HOF.

But, after sometime I get to realize that, thats the way it has to be.

So, Nehemia, I salute you. :D
